    i know Dobbin. it should of been 'Gordon Strachan is Football!'

    its all chinease whispers atm. hopefully when WGS and Pavlyuchenko returns to their homelands, a deal can be done and he can start banging in the goals. £6m is a bargin for him.

    They wont sell him on the cheap with all the money there is in Russian football atm thats for sure.

    He's prob been n our radar since he scored twice against us in the CL qualifier last year. Did anyone else hear WGS talkin about him on the BBC? He clearly rates him as a top class player and compared him to Sheringham.

    I think this could happen

    Exclusive: Celtic told Roman Pavlyuchenko will cost them £6m

    Am I missing something?? Where does the Spartak spokesaman state that they want £6m for Pavluychenko??


    A Spartak spokesman said: "He is under contract until the summer of 2011. We haven't received any offer for him, but we understand that there are clubs interested in signing Roman. He is a good player.
    "He has forced his way into the first 11 and has been our top scorer so the coach really does not want to sell him at this moment."

    No meniton of a price tag for the big man anywhere there as far as I can see.

    My take on the situation would be more like CELTS TOLD PAVLUYCHENKO NOT FOR SALE

    With the money floating around Russian football now, why would they let a top palyer leave for 6 mil though? I can see us missing out on him to a richer, not more presitgious team for a fee way higher, a la Tymoshuk. Maybe a Fulham or Newcastle or something.

    It could all just be newspaper supposition. WGS rates him, he played well against us last season and we know that the papers read things like the rumour mill.

    There has been no actual link between us and the player, either from the club or the player's agent. All we haver is the Daily Record saying we are after him and Bent.

    I'll get excited once i here someone come out and say that we are in for them.

    As much as I would love to see him at Celtic, I just don't see it. Apparently we are now after him because we didn't get Lafferty! If it was a realistic signing in the first place why the * we're we going for Lafferty instead of Pavyluchenko?

    There's substance there somewhere, 3 or 4 tabloids ran with the story on the same day which suggests there was a catalyst.

    I think any deal for him is miles off though unless it's being done hush hush. We know what happens when we show an interest in a player, a mid table EPL club then does and offers him wages we can't stretch to.

    i highly doubt pavy bhoy will be in the hoops :54:! Spartak dont need to sell they have so much money and i think there support will be rather * off to see another team from russia in zenit st petersburg and especialy CSKA moscow win the uefa cup in recent years. spartak must be under a bit of pressure to do something in europe. selling one of there best players wont go down to well with the fans and there fans are crazy * if i remember right they racialy abused there new forward velliton last season and got stuck into the board for signing him surely the spartak board havent got the balls to sell pavlyuchenko or mozart or any other top player the fans love. i just hope celtic dnt get spartak or zenit in the champions league! hail:shamrock: hail:shamrock:

    Bent loan no.

    Don't know if I like the sounds of a loan deal.I do think he would bang in the goals but would rather see us sign someone on full time contract or just bring on who we have.Dont see the point in having someone in our team that we can't afford to buy at the end of his loan period.Especially when we already have a partnership that helped win us the league.

    just wish we'd gone for him even in january. looks unlikely between reported interest from barca and a good showing in the euros. hope henke can do us a favour and knock them out before he starts to really make big clubs sit up and take notice. russia v holland will/would be some quarter final though
