    we are now at a stage that we are so far ahead of rangers financially that we should make at least 1 6-8mil signing every couple of seasons. we can't honestly expect to progress in europe with the same signing policy we (and rangers) have had over the last 10/15 years.

    in saying all that, 7 mil for a CB? would rather buy a bit more flair with that kind of money, or a DM....

    If hes really that good though (which football manager leads me to believe lol) then £7 million defender on a 4 year contract would sort us out defensively BIG TIME. * spending 1-2 million a season on * centrebacks. We should spend a fair whack and keep him as long as possible.





    I apologise for my arm-chair punditry but it seems too much like common sense to me lol

    Mensah is * class.An absolute rock.I've been advocating us to sign him for a while now but I was under the impression he would cost about 4m.One reservation I would have about him is that he's a bit short,I think he's just under 6ft tall.However he's got a great spring,like Cannavaro and Larsson have.7m is a lot of money and I think we could get a CB just as good in the 2-5m bracket.I'd definitley go up to about 5.5m for him.

    He would be a superb signing and at 7 million why not we have supposedly got 20 mil to spend so 13 million left just to buy a quality dm then just some good squad players because i feel our team with them 2 signings would get further in europe

    he is captain of Ghana, ahead of a lot of quality players (Essien etc), and has been in Ligue 1s team of the season for the last 2 seasons. the French football fans rate him as the best defender in their top flight. he is very good and would be just the thing to raise our defence up a level. wouldn't mind if we only bring two players in this window and one of them was him.

    Cheers for the info mate, sounds like he would be a quality signing going by this. And if we start putting in bids of £7m for players then we really do mean business.
