Legia Warsaw better level than Hearts, what have the Poles ever done?? Hearts split the OF two years ago to get in2 the CL... i cant remember specifics but has a Polish team ever played in the CL proper???

Like I said Gordon is a few years younger than Boruc, he also has been his countries number 1 for a good few years- a country ranked in the top 20 in the world.

He may or may not be worth than in the epl market, but unless a bidding war ensues Celtic will take 10m- a 9.4m profit on the guy. IMO good! A bidding war would raise this to about 12m.

10 million is a fair offer and if that was to come in, i think it would be accepted.

Hearts only finished second because Rangers were so bad, not because they were good.

Hearts went as far in the CL as Polish clubs have, Hearts never past the qualifying round, the got pumped of AEK Athens or someone like that, I mean who are they?

Yea Gordon is number 1 for Scotland but Boruc is still far better. If Boruc was Scottish he would have the number 1 jersey off Gordon in a second.

Its a good offer but when keepers who are not half the quality of Boruc are going for around £10m then we should be looking for much more.

For team who wants to go to the next level in the CL we should be doing everything in our power to keep these players.
OK if there is great money offered for Boruc or McGeady and it was exepted, how much of that would we get back in the team, i am not saying Celtic are stingey because they are far from it, i just think that these players should be kept and more quality bought in.
A hard thing to acheive if a player shows a desire to leave, but we should at least try.
If we do this then we will achieve the QF or more in the CL.

Looking for much more?? Obviously Celtic are going to try and maximise the money they get!!! How much do you realistically think is a fair value?? Baring in mind keeping an unhappy player would be adverse to the club and that spl players are typically valued lower than players in the epl, irrelevant of talent!

£15million :50: however, keeping Atrur, I dont think he would become unhappy.

Artur has previously stated- on several occassions- that he would like to play elsewhere. If Celtic were 2 deny him a move to Milan or even Arsenal I think we would begin to hear alot from his agent!! Could end up like Petrov..... He has won the league up here, both Cups..... what else can he do????

I think he will happly do another season here :50:

He can take us to the last 8 of the CL, possibly further. There is no rush for him to move on, hes still young for a GK.

put it this way we know Sunderland paid in the region of 9million for Gordon and if rumours are to be believed Spurs are touting about hunbagMcGregor for 9millon then that sets the bench mark....if not higher for an international champions league goalkeeper, has to be 10million plus for Boruc, surely he's worth that+ to any team in the champions league?!?!

If we don't see serious money expect him to start the season with us. I hope he does.

Next year a 29 year old Boruc will have 2 years left on his contract. IMO selling this year would maximise our potential to profit. 10-12 million would be the maximum any1 would pay. Sunderland paid 7m- with 2m based on appearances- last year when he was only 24.

He may take us to the last 8 but should he move to Arsenal/Milan etc he realises he may lift the trophy!

GreenGoblin ive got to agree with Andy. :icon_mrgreen: Legia Warsaw are at a higher level than Hearts, and if they had to play them in the Champs League Qualifiers then Hearts would be heading home, i mean look at the state of there team now. Boruc is easily worth 15mill if Gordon was worth 9 mill when Boruc is more than twice the keeper Gordon is or will ever be. Fs Mcgregors a far better keeper than Gordon is :50:

I'd Be Sad If He Left Us But Think Of The Profit We Could Get. I Think We Bought Him For About 800K. We Could Get A 9.2Mil Profit.

    Not Bad.

    Hi,

To get back to the original point in this thread regarding Arsenal being in for Boruc. This is the first time i've paid attention to how journo's get these headlines. Wenger was interviewed for the BBC euro 2008 blog:

BBC SPORT | Euro 2008 blog

He then must have attended the Germany v Poland game. I'm not sure if he was definitely there, but it was a big game, so chances are he was. Then the Evening Times comes out with Boruc is on Arsenals radar. It's not exactly insider info is it. Before we all start ranting on about contract stipulations and perceived costs of the holy goalies worth, we should wait until we here it from the horses mouth.

I know it's always like this in the close season, but I for one don't expect too much to be done whilst the Euro's are on, especially for players that are currently involved.

Hearts at that point had a squad including Skacel, Gordon, Presselly and Hartley... The state Hearts are in just now is irrelevant- that is through their owner. Legia do not by any means dominate in Poland- having only won their league 8 times since 1955. They are regulars in the intertoto cup- which has no strict entry requirements- however are banned atm.

Boruc may be worth that but what i am saying is that 10m is a good price for our outlay for him and that no1 is going to pay 15m or more for a player who is proved at spl level- its too much of a risk.

I Know what you are saying its just that he does perform on the big stage, well look at Ronaldo everybody raves about him when he does it against Wigan, Birmingham, Blackburn's but where did he happen to be in the 2 legs against Barcelona, yes he scored in the final but every time he tried to go past players he usually didnt achieve his goal, even so Ronaldo is still being taunted as the worlds best player and Madrid are reportedly ready to break the bank for him. Boruc has however produced brilliant saves not only in the Spl but also to win games for us in the champs league, i was in the Nou Camp for the 2nd leg of the last 16 and if Boruc hadn't been in goal that result would have been rather embarrassing that night, as he produced save after save :icon_mrgreen:

Lets be honest here, Ronaldo scored 42 goals in 42 starts this season in perhaps the best league in the world. Was he not also top scorer in the CL this season??? That means he was top man in the league and CL coming form a wide position.... i think that alone justifies his praise. You cant expect him to pass three players everytime he gets the ball...

I watched Boruc all season mate- home, away, abroad- i saw some great saves. I saw some lapses in concentration. However in the spl where the average team at parkhead probs gets bout 3 shots on goal isnt really a level that makes the epl sit up and take notice. Up here he is worth 10 points per season- fair enough- but what is 10 spl points to an english team.

They see this league as a joke- the team who finishes last in the epl get more money that the OF combined. 10m to an spl team- even Celtic or Rangers- is a fantastic amount of money. If he stays another year he will be 29 with 2 years on his contract and you would be lucky to get 10m. This is the year Celtic must capatalise on their good fortune.

Now, Celtic are a wheeling and dealing club- they have to be because of their financial handicaps being in the spl- gone are the days where sutton, lennon and hartson would mean 18m spent on 3 players in the space of a year. Its time people got to grips with reality here..... 10m or 9.whatever profit is a fantastic deal and will be grabbed by the Celtic board.

You put across a good point man :50: I also know that any offer will be grabbed with two hands by the board, even though i think we could get a bit more for him. Do agree with you also on his lapses in concentration, his ability to come out and catch/clear corners also is in question some of the time I think, above all that though he is fantastic. Our best keeper ever IMO :icon_mrgreen:

The Hoalie Goalie's a legend but don't think we can hold on to him...we'll have to let him go at some stage but for nothin less then 15mil

OK, i understand what you are saying that a big bid will be accepted, being a PLC our players will always be on the market for the right value, i just think it is about time that we has a club say NO, wait a minute, we will not sell our best players and we will build on our squad to progress in the CL. I maybe in fairytail land, but as a true diehard celtic supporter, it gets a bit frustrating when we sell our best players every couple of years. I want to succeed and to do that we have to keep a hold of our best players.
A risk i think is worth taking for the benefit of our beloved club.
