Ach well lets not sign anyone then, no point, too late.

I love how it's the 7th of January and some people are having a breakdown. As if we were to sign players on the 1st of January they'd be full integrated by the 31st. Aw but it's the 7th now, they are never going to gel fs. Compper joined on the 1st... that went well.

Someone could do that again, someone could hit the ground running. We've had players join before and days later they are scoring on their debut. Off the top of my head Commons, Sinclair, Samaras, I'm sure there's more. * need to chill the * out.

    Panic stations!

FFS, I'm not saying it doesn't happen, I'm saying it's not ideal! By your rationale let's wait until the day before champions league qualifiers before signing anyone as it clearly doesn't make a difference.

History has told us our board are complete * Muppet's in the Jan window or even any deadlines we've to get players in. * waiting about, sign the quality players we've all invested our time and our money into and blow these *'s out of the water again. The later we leave it, they'll gain the mental edge over us and with them * of refs there, anything could happen. Dont let complacency set in.

    What an illogical argument.

We've had 4 months to prepare since our last shambles of a transfer window. We have no fully fit strikers and our season starts again in 12 days. Urgency is definitely required.

Compper wasn't a failure because he joined on the 1st of January, he's a failure because the scouts & medical team weren't competent (or should that be Comppertent?)

By all accounts we have dragged our heels over the Bayo deal over the sake of a few hundred grand. Negotiating is all good and well when you have time to do so, given all of the above and the fact we have no gap in the league it's embarrassing. Pay the * money, get the guy in, get him on the plane to Dubai, let him get to know his team-mates and give him the best chance to make an impact in 4 crucial games coming up.

And lets not forget our manager who has won 7 trophies in a row specifically requested he’d have his players in Dubai to train.

But our CEO who this tax year will trouser the equivalent of £9,589 per day is holding on so we can shave a few grand off their asking fee.

No idea what your argument is in relation to the conversation I was having there.

I never said Compper was a failure because he was signed on the 1st. My point was we signed an experienced CB who came in on the 1st. Perfect, it was just what we needed.

    But it didn’t work out.

We’ve signed players late on in January and they’ve hit the ground running, gone on to be great for us. This logic that it HAS to be done early is bullshit. Of course it’s ideal, but it’s not essential.

That’s my point. People need to calm down. It’s not Football Manager or FIFA. It can be tough to get deals done in January, our board make it a * of a lot harder than it should be too.

Take Weah for example. He’d be in Dubai now but PSG wanted to tie him down to a deal first. That’s outwith our control. The Bayo negotiations are a farce of course.

We’ve got Airdrie, St Mirren, Hamilton and St Johnstone all at home before the window shuts. Good run of games for players to come and settle in before the big games are back. Someone might sign on the 31st, doesn’t mean he will be a failure just because he never went to Dubai.

No-one is saying a player will automatically be a failure because they sign on the 31st. We want things to be done promptly because we badly need it.

We have no fit strikers, our 2 best CBs could both theoretically go this window with one having a loan recall option and the other's agent publicly stating he wants a move. We badly need a new RB and have done for 4 transfer windows.

You're immersed in the Peter Lawwell propaganda of how every window is difficultto deal in. "No teams want to lose players in January"..."Players won't sign for us before we've guaranteed Champions League Football"... meanwhile clubs around us with a fraction of our budget (and with more modestly paid CEOs) seem to be able to complete deals without anywhere near the fuss.

Every single transfer turns into a saga, even loan deals. Weah and Bayo deals aren't exceptions, they're symptomatic of our strategy.

Chelsea signed Pulisic for £58 million at the beginning of the window. Hibs completed the Stevie Mallan loan deal the day after McGinn was sold.

Our issue is that the man we have doing our deals turns every transfer into a war of attrition and who's going to blink first. It's embarrassing.

If it costs us an extra £300k to get Bayo in earlier, get him familiar with his surroundings and get him ready for a monumental 5 months for the club....why not do it?

I wish he wouldn't keep doing that..

Says thing's over and over that don't come to fruition..

I don't doubt he tries and the board are penny pinching, but I'd rather actions speak louder than word's..

Our number 1 target's should be completed or very close to completion by now. No loan's..

He’s not daft though is he, keeping quiet looks like he is complicit, looks like he backs what the boards doing.

I prefer him letting the fans know what he wants and how the board are reacting to that.

Same guy whose annual salary this year worked out to £68,000 per week is so delighted to penny-pinch over every single deal. He would never, and this can't be emphasised enough, NEVER sanction a deal for a player to make that same amount of money.

I’ve not once disagreed with what you’re saying there regarding our transfer policy, you’re preaching to the converted. I’ve not even been defending the board.

It’s definitely not propaganda and I was only talking about the January window, not every window. Stop twisting things to suit your arguement. It’s fact. Teams don’t want to lose players in January. You can’t deny that. You’ve literally just suggested you don’t want to lose Boyata or Benkovic.

We’ve signed Burke on loan. Why are you telling me about Chelsea signing someone who they done particularly need and isn’t coming until the summer and a loan signing Hibs made last summer? (Which was Hyndman, not Mallan, they obvious had it lined up for McGinn leaving as that saga went on for a while). Want me to list all the teams in need of something, who haven’t signed anyone yet?

Come on :giggle1: Bayo is going to sign this week likely, it doesn’t make that much difference if he doesn’t get a few days in Dubai. Very different to his future “surroundings”.

Absolute meltdown over nothing. Save it for the window closing when Boyata leaves and we’ve signed nobody.

My first visit to this thread, Brendan at it again 2 strikers and a winger, though we needed them, WHERE THE * IS OUR NEW RB/ CH's and I know there's weeks to go in the window the thing is that last window right up to the last week I was telling people to chill the club will sort it but they * us with announcing Benkovic at midnight when he'd been there all day * training. I can't relax until our defence is sorted

Got to agree with @jake10 Bayo in probably next 48 hours then it’s time to focus on the defence.

Midfield I feel we have enough in that area for the final 25 games of the season.

We need a RB but with Perez possibly signing that 4 on the books and that won’t do, Ralston loan offer knocked back tells me we won’t sort RB this window and unless 3 CB leave I don’t think we will sign any CB either. But business done early let’s hope I am wrong but can’t see it.

Well if we play 10 forwards we wont need any CB's must be the logic we're using
