And now here you are, right on cue, gloating in the Lustig thread. I'm so happy for you that he finally performed as badly as you always believed he could.

You quite blatantly hate Michael Lustig more than you like Celtic. Must be a fun way to live.

 

I get the whole lack of pace thing he's getting on a bit but I've seen all season in games where h stops tracking back at the edge of the box goal happens and he blames other people he doesn't have the heart

The reverse could be said for the fanboys who have defended lustug when anyone with a pair of eyes could see he's been finished for 2 years.

 

He’s been a great servant over the years but no deal should be offered. He will be on a wage that his performances don’t justify.

A new first choice RB is required in the summer. Ralston and Perez should be given chances to stake a claim until the end of the season.

 

And what about those of us who think he definitely has declined and needs to be replaced but isn't half as bad as is being made out? Shocking on Saturday right enough, along with almost everyone else. Benkovic was just as bad, is Benkovic done? Boyata was even worse than Lustig, is he done?

There's "done" and there's "done". You can't judge him as totally finished based on a match where everyone else was just as bad. Judge him on his general performances. Based on those, he's become a weak link and his time as a first pick at RB is now coming to a close; but even now he's not the useless waste of space that Leadpipe Louis always makes out.

This guy was a really solid player for us and gave us the best years of his career. If you listened to Leadpipe Louis, you'd think he was a charlatan who stole a wage here for years. I hope he leaves with dignity in the summer and joins AIK to see out his career.

By the way, the reverse can't be said. Loving a Celtic player enhances your love for Celtic in a way that hating a player can't. Nearly everyone here is head over heels in love with Henrik Larsson, do we love Celtic less for that or more?

 

* are you on about? Benkovic hasn't cost us goals week in week out for the past 2 years, and also the only thing I can recall Benkovic getting wrong was the slip on half way. Sure when were winning and everything goes to plan Lustig is a great player to have because he loves a wind up, but when it all goes to * he doesn't want to stand up and be counted for- how many times do you see him fake an injury when it's going * up? The only time he looks comfortable now are when were playing diddy teams who sit back and invite pressure. If we played at Hampden every week Lustig would be Player of the year as he always seems to come to life, any other stadium and hes back to his usual self.

If you don't understand, you can try reading my post properly, instead of skimming it and jumping to conclusions about what I mean.

I'm saying you can't judge Lustig as done from one game when almost the whole team were just as bad. Judge him on his general level of performance the same as you do with Benkovic (who was just as bad on the day). I think it's a very fair point.

Once you do that, you see that Benkovic is still a great player and that Lustig is an ageing fullback who was once solid but now a bit of a weak link who needs to be replaced; but you also see he's not anything like as awful as some folk are making out.

This was what I was on about. Don't you think it's fair?

 

At his peak, he was being touted in the rumours that Rubin Kazan were interested.

Now though, it's just sad, just watching someone trying to keep up when they clearly don't have the legs for our game now.

How we are gagging for a right footed KT that would bring real balance in both directions to our team, right now it's all lopsided and it's ruining BR's gameplan.

 

Totally agree, he has been a fantastic servant not just on the park but also off it. However, would you really be comfortable waiting until summer to replace? Not knocking you, but personally last summer was the correct time which was badly missed and this January is the absolute necessity time. The two players you mention should only be back up in my view.
