Said it at the time if Lustig was still on that’s a goal, he wouldn’t have followed the run he’d be sitting watching the boy run past him to tap it in.

    100%..

He isn't great but he does have something and has shown that the last few game's he's been in. Has the kinda attitude that will give him a decent career in the game..

Time to give this lad a run till the end of the season.
He’s a defender first and foremost.

He’s not good enough. His attitude is great but he has limited technical ability.

He’ll do the business against the likes of Motherwell and Dundee. But not cut out for it against better opposition.

When I saw that team yesterday (and still now) the only thing that perplexed me was McGregor at LB and Ntchump starting - would have played Lustig from the start for his experience.

But experience or not, he was a * disaster! That run by Kent , why the * was Lustig backing off and backing off allowing the * to even get in the box? Then that stupid utterly STUPID lunge? The * was going nowhere!!!!!!!

Actually advocated putting Brown at RB only to get Tierney on and get McGregor in the middle of the park, but I was happy with Ralston's contrubution. One of the only * to actually get stuck in and fight with some * balls and show positional and defensive awareness - you'd have thought Lustig was the 20 year old and Ralston the 31 y/o with bags of international and club experience...

Right, so what technical ability does he "need" to make it here?

He doesn’t look comfortable on the ball. Very robotic and stiff movement.

I’d start him over Lustig because he has more energy and dig. But long term we need better.

That can only come with an extended period in the first team.

His technical ability should already be at a better standard if he’s to make it here, imo. I know they play in a different position but look at Johnston, Forrest, Tierney, Henderson etc.

When they all broke through (Johnston is still in that process) they all looked much more comfortable with the ball at their feet.

The thing we usually say with these young players is that the ability is already there, now they just need to bulk up. Ralston is the opposite. He’s already a bit of a tank. It’s his actual ability on the ball that isn’t up to scratch.

I was thinking if we get to half time make the 2 changes we will be fine , get Tierney on ( he was surely awright for 45 mns ) get calmac back where he should be an get eddie on for that walloper ntcham . huns were sticking to a rigid formation ( probably altered when slippy saw our line up ) a change of formation from us would have fukked that up for them . I know it sounds daft but was the long con on ? remember slippy was the captain when Brendan started tinkering at Liverpool and knew the signs , walter was surely consulted and one of his familiar tricks was the " oh * the injuries we will be without a whole back line or midfield " but sure as * on the day they were all there ( at one time Gough had a hairline fracture of the leg but turned up ) not one of thae fukkers looked out on their feet or showing signs of slowing down . did Brendan play that team thinking we would be playing a really weak line up …. fancifull I know .

Really don’t understand the amount of hate this boy gets. I think he’s done more than enough to warrant a run in the team for the rest of the season, he’s maybe played 10 games for us total?

Nae bother. 5 year deal for our old fashioned goalie too aswell because * any technical ability at all in the team. Lets just go down to the level of the rest of the league and staunch our way to the 10.

If we want to improve we need better, he has fight and determination but so does a dog ffs.
He is an improvement on lustig but that really isnt something to boast about. Would do a job as back up.

He should be keeping Lustig out the team as far as I’m concerned . I’ve been banging on about * being finished for * ages now, and usually get slaughtered for it.
Ralston is faster, fitter, stronger and hungrier. Offers much more attacking and debatably isn’t any worse defensively.
Suppose though, he’s no as ‘technical’ as Lustig. Lustig who’s well known for being the technical genius that he is.

How "technical" do you need to be to receive the ball, turn back, and pass to Gordon or Boyata, a la Lustig?
