Assuming Leipzig win on Thursday - Even if we beat both Rosenborg and Salzburg in our next two, we will more than likley go out on 12pts due to goal difference.

    Salzburg still need a point.

If they lost to Leipzig and we beat them handsomely on matchday 6 then they’d be out.

I can’t see a stitch up happening tbh.

In reality they shouldn't be allowed in the same competition as they could always draw later on and fix the match.
If Salzburg send a weakened team out then they could be done for it if the missing players all then turn up on Sunday domestic games. They will send out a strong team and players told to play half arsed.

The bookies have had Leipzig as the best team in the group from the get go. They are also not in bad form themselves losing 1 out of 12 to us so far ( to us) and play in a far superior league to Salzburg. Bookies do make mistakes. Leipzig were a similar price to win at Celtic Park and we all know what happened there. The biggest upset so far in this group was probably Salzburg winning as big underdogs in Leipzig earlier on.

if we all finish on 12pts , then it can go to goal difference.

if head to head is like this

    Salzburg > Lepizieg
    Lepizig > Celtic
    Celtic> Salzburg

then goal difference will decide the placeing

Goal difference in our matches vs Salzburg first isn’t it?

They beat us 3-1 so if we won 2-0 they’d be out, I believe.

but what would happen if Salburg are better than Lepizig h2h?

salzburg would finish above them, right?

But then Lepzieg have a better head to head against us.

    we cant all finish 2nd.

    goal difference will then decide

were talking about goal difference and head to heads this inevitable means bad things fukc

really hope the players arent dwelling on any of this *, it really would be a major mind setback to their performances

Sort of as it would put us ahead of Salzburg but we are already behind Leipzig on the H2H so if Salzburg finish ahead of Leipzig on the h2h each team would be ahead of 1 team on h2h but behind the other. That's when GD in all the games involving Celtic, Leipzig and Salzburg would come into the equation.

So if Leipzig do win we need them to win 2-0 or 3-1 then.

And then we beat Salzburg 2-0.

    Easy.

According to Oddschecker Leipzig are favourites to win in Salzburg & people are saying the fix is in. Difficult to believe because Salzburg would be taking a chance against us beating them 2.0 at Parkhead, assuming we beat Rosenborg. Still these odds are strange given Salzburg haven't lost at home since the beginning of time.

If we all end up on 12pts then the head to head between pairs of teams won't come into it. It goes to a 3-way head to head, with results against Rosenborg taken out of the equation.

    1. Pts in matches between the 3 teams.
    2. Goal difference in matches between the 3 teams.
    3. Goals scored in matches between the 3 teams.
    etc.

Individual head to head would only mattere if 2 teams are still tied after running through all the 3-way tiebreakers.

If we all finish on 12pts then Leipzig will definitely qualify. But their results will still matter in deciding who progresses from ourselves and Salzburg.

Better Record against us and if they win by 2 or more better than Salzburg. Essentially if they win at Salzburg there guaranteed 2nd at least I believe.
