This exactly. From a Celtic family, so Southampton can * right off....

    They aren't similar.

Armstrong, at his best, was a powerful runner with a direct linear running line. Christie is a player with a lower centre of gravity, can come short, technically better and with generally better link up play.

Better footballer, but he can be nothing more than a bench player if we are serious about becoming a decent European side.

Dont think theyre the same type of player.... armstrong with penetrating runs, christie comes short more.

But in reference to the op i didnt rate armstrong anyway. Inconsistent andceasily bossed about.

Christie has bulked up and put a couple of goid shifts in. Very early days.

    He's certainly more gifted technically.

I've missed the last two games due to work but by sounds of things and the odd clip you catch when watching his stint at Aberdeen or even ICT, he strikes as more of Rogic type of player.

I think he can actually be better. He is already better technically looks stronger all that's really needed is him getting used to that sort of role.

Don't see why he can't play in Europe if we sort our defending out.

Took me ages to warm to Armstrong. Then he went through that spell where he was unplayable . Only to follow it up with more abject performances.
Christie goes through similar hot and cold, from what my Sheep supporting mate told me. Looks a lot fitter than he's ever been and still young.
Always thought there was a player in there. Hopefully he keeps it up.

He a lot more fight than Armstrong, considering he’s hardly played his fitness is well above as well in comparison. Can score, create, defend, find spaces and make the Armstrong type runs to pull defences apart. He’s exactly what we were missing earlier in the season.

I don't think you can't underestimate the catalyst Ryan has been to us getting our mojo back. Brendan loves working with young players. He's like anyone else, some aspects of your job you can do without, but its well documented this is where Brendan shines.

Ryan is like a new player just arrived with all his eagerness and enthusiasm. It has galvanised the whole squad I think and Brendan is loving it.

    The season starts here!

Keep the runs from deep to create spaces and scoring opportunities and continue to add more goals and he'll contribute massively to the team.
Arguably what we're missing last few months: movement off the ball.

He keeps performing so he deserves the credit coming his way. Didn't look bad against Leipzig either.

Technically good, can fill in a few positions for us, but not more than a squad player. People said the same about McGregor, but look at the improvement in him.

Christie is 23, has had a good spell at Aberdeen and has taken his chance at Celtic in this last week. He's the type of player Rodgers seems to enjoy working with. Let's just see how he gets on.

A lot of players come here and don't improve and take that next step. Based on Brendan's comments, in a way almost more than his appearances so far, I am excited to see what he can offer. I didn't think he could feature in a team along with Rogic, but it's much more encouraging now.

Armstrong will be a forgotten name in a season or two.

I think he has the potential to fill the void left by Armstrong. Christie still hasn't had a full season under the guidance if BR, you never know, he might have just exploded on the the scene much like Amrstong did when BR finally found his position.

I'm glad the lad is finally being given a chance, his inclusion has definitely gave us another dimension going forward and he puts in a shift. I'm sure he will improve and excell if given a proper chance. With him and McGregor now hitting top form it's going to keep our other midfielders on their toes as well.

Never liked Armstrong and smile each time I remember Southampton somehow gave us 8 million to take his wages.

Christie could and should be better. Time will tell.

our best player by far that night maybe our only player in what was quite a weak lineup, never shirked it and worked his * off that night

its good to see a young scottish prospect come in and fight like * to get into the side and maintain it for now, i expect a wee dip though, but we know now he has the abiltity and quality to be a celtic player

weve seen a fair few signings just dwindle away at the periphery and it looked as if he might be another one

i think he can get better
