Just feels so flat right now. What are the chances the board will try to make up for the CL money by selling Boyata or Dembele (maybe unlikely due to his injury just now)?

You know what I don't get right? This argument that Lawwell and co. come out with by saying "Well we can't sign any players just now because they'd like to know if they're playing for a Champions League club."

Are players more attracted to a club playing in the Champions League? Yes, undoubtedly so. But if you're telling me players just look at six matches and maybe two more if we got to the KO rounds and base that on signing four years of their life away, then you're pulling a leg.

 

Went to the game with my daughter. * result but seeing her face as she walked out onto the slopes of Celtic Park for the first time will live long in the memory. She couldn't sit still all night.

Her night was complete when we sang COYBIG in the second half, up on her feet giving it laldy.

She can't wait to go back so job done.

Well, that was a kick in the guts that goal which the Greeks didn't deserve. However, fair play to them for defending like that and keeping to their plan with 10 men for 30/35 mins but we made it too easy for them. You know before that even with 11 they were an adequate side and nothing more. My shining light for tonight was wee Forrest and just wish we had got it out there more.....when he started running they really struggled to cope with him!

Not over by a long shot but it's gonna be tough.....think we will need 2 goals but why not.......yeah they only lost 12 goals in league last year but the Ukranian is injured and the Belgian is away....that's their CB pair from last year away so no-one tell me this isn't doable!!


ps- and surely Eddy can't be that bad again!

 

Wasn't the best performance, but still confident for next week.

AEK looked very average. Striker looked alright, and they were well organised when sitting deep, but overall they didn't appear to have much quality.

Should have Boyata back too, which as well as improving the defence will give additional threat as set pieces.

0-2 in Athens. Easy.

just watched the match and i am 90% sure we will beat them. we were unlucky tonight on a few occasions. they defended well especially when they had 10 men but offered very little all game. maybe they will be more open at their place and we can exploit that

 

What stuck out for me tonight was El Greco's embarrasing lack of patter. Going by this post the local primary school has far wittier patter merchants than mad fake greek *.

 

They weren't even good and we still managed to * it up, all the talk on our social media accounts from greek fans saying we are going to lose and threatening violence bunch of scumbags. Why people were clapping them when they were walking into the stadium I'll never know, carrying union jack flags and all... at least with Rosenborg they were a bit mouthy last year but this year they realised not to, this lot and their fans need to get taken to the cleaners. Anyone know what the away ticket allocation is?

 

Good thing that wasn't an important game, cuz we were fckin dreadful.

 

Rodgers was pretty pleased with tonight's performance in the post-match interview. I must've been watching the wrong game, who'd we play?

 

Rodgers knows, Rodgers is playing mind games with next week in mind.

Also, the performance WAS pleasing, we dominated the game, got hit with a lucky smashed cross and had to deal with a 9 man brick wall - a very good one at that!

These are the hardest games to take because you could smell blood and they were * wounded.

I’ll always be optimistic with Celtic, i’ll watch that game next week hoping we score early and first - drawing them out and then countering, BOOM 2-0.

I’m also a realist, I know how they played last night, I’m well aware of how we play in Europe, away from home, against decent opposition and I’m well versed an away score draw is a huge advantage in the first leg - as good as a defeat for the home team.

My heart will say us but my head knows AEK now smell blood and will know we are wounded by that result.

 

Brendan has a 100% record in cl qualifiying ties.

 

At least we will get a good light show when we play Hamilton

Will keep the faith, but that was a right kick in the teeth last night.

 

Can’t wait for the playoff round! We will put AEK out! Always negative in this situation, but for some reason I’m sure we do get through this one
