Anyone any recommendations of things to do, few mates saying do auschwitz, saltmines.
Is it expensive for food, drink etc?

Dirt cheap. Pint generally about £1.20 I found. On the main square it gets a bit dearer though.

Salt mines were a waste of time in my opinion, took up a good 4-5 hours of the day travelling to it then going through it. As impressive an engineering feat as it is, it got a bit boring going through cave after cave carved out of the salt. Didn't do Auschwitz so can't comment.

You literally can't spend your money over there it's that cheap. I think I took around £250 for a 4 day trip and came back with some and that was eating out, drinking, going places.

On the main square there's a wee kebab shop on one of the corners, get a chicken kebab. Thank me later.

Fantastic city, we hired a car and drove to wadowice where pope John Paul was born, even if you’re not religious it’s worth doing. It’s about an hour drive. Definitely do aushwitz, it’s an unbelievable place, very upsetting but I think everyone should see it.

Not sure that's advisable on a trip away with the Mrs.

I’m looking to go away in dec for a wee winter break - would this place be a shout for then? I’m assuming it’d be all snowy and that?

    Between here and Prague !

Duffys Irish Bar is likely to have it if it’s on tv. It’s in/near the Jewish district, lovely wee boozer.

Agree with everyone RE: Krakow, beautiful town. Missus is from there so hoping to move soon, any one any advice on areas to live?

I’ve been to both. But Prague 4 times. My favourite city in the world. Krakow is very good and very inexpensive. Prague has got expensive from the first two times I went but still cheap compared to us.
Would be a hard pick for some but you have to see Prague in the winter. And their food is second to none.

Yeah you should find a few. There is a massive Irish bar on the last side street of the main square. All sorts of games on. But try and find a local pub showing it. Less intrusive and the Irish pub as always is a * rip off.
Btw Aushwitz is a must see. It is harrowing. He rail track into the camp etc.

Dirt cheap! Proper £1 a pint material. You can get a steak dinner for under a fiver.

One bit of advice on Auschwitz.......don't go hungover makes the experience more harrowing!
