Celtic have decided to draw a line in their bid for John McGinn and will not be increasing their £2m offer but will leave it on the table.

There is no other team at this point currently interested in McGinn and the English window closes in less than 2 weeks.

The bid is £2m with some attractive addons according to the papers.

So all those who think we are lowballing them to offer £2m upfront with decent addons I think is very fair and the boy seems to have his heart set on Celtic.

As i said before tell Petrie the £2m plus the addons is on the table until the English window closes then bang £1.5m with no addons until our window closes then if nothing they are left with a player who’s dream move is on hold and they are millions down and if we still want him we will pick him up for free in January!

Celtic for me are 100% in the right in this situation!

Whilst Petrie is saying he is doing what is best for Hibs - he is also hurting st Mirren as they are due 1/3 of any transfer!

Hate that * Petrie with a passion!

    Correct move by the Club.

Window shuts and they’ve not accepted the bid we pick him up for * all in 5 months if we still want him.

Doesn't solve the problem of replacing Armstrong though. I don't particularly rate McGinn but he's clearly the guy we want to bring in so the club need to find a way of getting it done. One or two injuries to key players and our squad will start to look bare indeed.

McGinn wouldn’t be replacing Armstrong regardless, Armstrong was an energetic goalscorer. McGinn won’t burst past people or score a guaranteed double figures every year. Completely different players.

Over and above that, even if we had Stu he’d struggle to get a game in the current formation we’re running with.

I'm just talking about numbers alone. We have some real quality in our squad but if anything were to happen to a few of them at once i'd be a bit worried.

Don't get the hate and why wouldn't he do what's best for Hibs?

The guy is a pure * he said that the Oldco shouldn’t have their titles stripped and called for the resolution 12 to be fully dismissed with the sfa and maintained the Huns didn’t get an advantage during the EBT years!!!

At this point I'd just withdraw the offer and announce he's signed a pre contract at 12:01am on 30th November. Pretty sure we don't even need to wait until Jan since his contracts up at the end of May.

A noon announcement on 6th February (we host Hibs that night) would do me just fine. Get it right up them.

Fletcher could have knocked it back and forced the club to accept celtics offer either that or he runs down his contract

Differnce with Stu and McGinn situations is apparently we had 3 or more teams looking at Stu.

Hibs only have us looking at McGinn and that's why they are holding off to see if anyone comes in before the 9th August - dangerous game, hibs aint in a position to knock £2m back or £1.4m once Saints get their cut!

As the English window draws to a close, they'll 100% be trying to sell him down here..

Regardless of what you believe to be the case, Petrie has done absolutely * all wrong. He is trying to get the best mony for his player, as we would try to do if we sold Tierney.

He is an integral part of their team and wont be replaced easily. Theres no anti celtic agenda about it whatsoever and we are not being hard done by simply because we are celtic. Players have been bought and sold between the two clubs in the past. Its a risk they perceive to be worth taking.

They can play hard ball up until the close of the english window, but If the english window closes and they have no bids from down south, its advantage us. But even if it rumbles on until January, a team from down south can still offer him terms we might not match and so it would be up to the player.

Iv thought from the outset that a deal of £2m and Allan or £2.5m would be accepted. I dont see why we wouldnt invlude Allan as part of any deal if he isnt in our plans.

If we are all being honest, we would be hoping Lawell would be doing exactly the same thing in their situation.
