How’s would you explain his form and lack of game time then? He’s shown he can be the best defender we have at times, the fact he isn’t a nailed on starter must be due to desire? If he was 100% committed with 100% desire he starts no question..

Boyata when out the side was in the gym late at night working on his strength etc.. Jozo looked content to be sitting on the bench last season, I think thats criminal for a player who defo has the ability..

I think you should ask Brendan aswell then as he is said it was harsh basically, look it’s one of those given in Europe but domestically I’ve seen players not even booked for stuff like that. And look at the * on the end of it the biggest * in their team that was at it constantly over both legs.

Thought it was a red at first and after watching it again felt the same. It's a stupid challenge and really want our players to be smarter than that. The ref was terrible, and their players went down after every challenge they made, to try and avoid any action from the ref. Their 17 should have been off for at least two bookables. However, canny go in to that kind of challenge and expect to get away with it. Sometimes I think he can do a job, then he does this. If it were later in the qualifiers against better opposition we may have struggled.

Jozo will always have a place in our hearts for "that" tackle. He's still young but got to many issues, his country thing is bizzare, no sure Brendans a fan so I think his days are numbered, first decent offer and he's away imo.

I thought a yellow, one of their player did a similar tackle and didn't even get carded minutes before. If that player and Jozo got sent off, fair play but the ref was giving strange yellow cards all night

It honestly does not matter what Rodgers has said in this instance, it's one of the more blatant red cards you'll see. It doesn't even look as if he's any interest in playing the ball.

So are both commentators wrong aswell, it was a stupid mistimed high foot. His elbow at ibrokes was a blatant red last nights was not.

Yes they are. What is he actually trying to achieve there, the ball hasn't even touched the other boys head, yet simunovic's boot is planted on his hip. 100% red, regardless of if he meant it or not.

I know it is but even given that both of them were saying he was getting booked, we can all argue all day as it’s about opinions. So I’m out can’t be * even discussing it anymore tbh.

Thought it was harsh in real time, but it’s a clear red card.

Don’t know what the * he was playing at.

I don’t know mate, he’s only 23 and I agree he has all the attributes. Young players go through bad spells and 23 is nothing for a centre back.

I think people just assume he has a bad attitude as his face is always tripping him but he’s committed player in my mind. I think what ILTC says earlier in the thread about the back three is spot on. It doesn’t suit him at all being dragged into wide positions.

The PSG game at home looked to have ruined his confidence. That alongside numerous niggling injuries that are bound to play a part. I still think he has so much potential and we haven’t seen the best of him.
