LESS than three weeks after helping Celtic clinch a historic Double Treble, Kieran Tierney has more cause for celebration as he marks his 21st birthday today (June 5).

The young Celtic defender’s milestone comes in the middle of a well-deserved break after another memorable season for Hoops supporters.

Tierney had another remarkable season under Brendan Rodgers as he continued to develop into one of the best full-backs in the game. This was reflected in the accolades he picked up in addition to the Premiership trophy, the League Cup and the Scottish Cup.

He was named the PFA Young Player of the Year for an unprecedented third consecutive year. He also scooped the Celtic Young Player of the Year award and the Scottish Football Writers’ Young Player of the Year.

All this came in a season where he played 55 games for Celtic, taking his total appearances for his boyhood club to 130. He scored four goals in the process, one of which earned him the PFA Goal of the Season accolade. That came in the League Cup tie against Kilmarnock at Paradise, the same game in which Tierney captained the team for the first time in a competitive match.

The 21-year-old achieved similar feats for his country, too, as he captained Scotland for the first time in the friendly against the Netherlands in November which saw him earn his ninth international cap.

Midway through the season Tierney sat down with the Celtic View for an exclusive interview in which he discussed life away from football. Here's Birthday Bhoy Kieran Tierney's Green Room interview.

What was the first album you downloaded?
It was probably something like Cascada or Akon or something like that. I was still into a bit of everything when I was younger. I can’t remember for sure what phone I had it on, it was probably something like the Sonny Erickson Walkman phone or something. It was the first phone I had songs on so I’m not sure.

    The last song you downloaded?
It was by my mate who just put his song on Spotify. It’s called Baby Don’t Worry by Tommy McGuire. He went to my school and it’s great to see someone from my area trying to make it. I’ve heard him play a couple of times and this is a good song. It’s the only one he has on Spotify right now so I’m looking forward to him releasing more. He was in a band called the Isotones but this is his first song a solo artist so it’s good to see him making a go of it.

    First gig you went to?
I think it was the Stone Roses at Glasgow Green when Jake Bugg played and supported them a few years ago. I might have been to a Jake Bug gig just before that but I can’t remember for sure.

    Last gig you went to?
The last gig I was at was Jake Bugg in Edinburgh a couple of months ago. It was unbelievable. I was backstage talking to him and the next thing you know he has the guitar out practicing right in front of me. I speak to him from time-to-time. He wished me Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and stuff like that.

A TV show you can’t get enough of?
I’d have to say Family Guy. Every single night of my life I watch it. Even over in Dubai, me and Paddy watched a wee bit of Family Guy every night. It’s always on Fox or ITV2 which is handy.

A show you couldn’t care about if you never saw it again?
Futurama. I used to watch it but I was never able to get into it. I think it used be on straight after The Simpsons on Channel 4. The Simpsons is far better.

    First game you went to?
I can’t remember for sure. Off the top of my head, I think it was a Celtic v Hearts game or maybe Celtic v Dundee United league game. I was very young. I remember going on the supporters’ bus and it was my Dad who ran the bus so I went round to collect all their money off them, and they always used to give me one or two pounds for myself so I could get a pie at half-time or something. That’s my first memory of a Celtic game.

    First strip you owned?
It was as soon as I was born. The Celtic home one from 1997. My Dad bought it for me and there are pictures of me in it as well.

    First medal?
Maybe Under-15s or something. I think we won the Foyle Cup in Ireland with Celtic. That was the first trip away that we won. You always go away and it’s usually teams like Barcelona that you’re playing against so it’s tough. But in Ireland we did well and managed to win it.

    Most prized football possession?
Probably my debut shirt for Celtic. It’s not the best game of my career, I came on for 10 minutes but it’s something that I wanted to achieve all my life. That’s the moment it changed and became a reality for me. It was the white strip and I got it framed straight away so it’s up on the wall in the house so it’s a good one to have and to keep.

    Funniest moment on the pitch?
I do smile quite a lot on the pitch. I’ll laugh at stupid stuff if someone slips or something like that. It can happen to anyone. Mikael Lustig with the beach ball was funny, I didn’t even realise he had done it until I saw the video. I’d have to settle on Lustig’s piano celebration. I remember him saying to me after it that he knew the giff was going to be used on the Celtic Twitter as soon as it went in, so that’s why he went did it. The original video of him doing it in the gym is quality as well.

A stadium you haven’t played at but would love to play there?
I’m not really too fussed to be fair, although you want to play in the biggest stadiums, so maybe the Bernabeu.

I'm less than a year older than him and he speaks like and shares the interests of a 14 year old.
