allmost defo glory hunters. its hard to call irish celtic supporters glory hunters, and i'm not doing that because of the links they have to the club but if your supporting a big club in a diffrent club its hard to see why other than trophies etc that you'd be supporting that club, imigration excluded ofcourse.
like why would a Scot be a AC Milan supporter etc

all my pals support english teams and i tell them on a regular basis that they're glory hunters. celtic are a club with strong irish links and irish league fitba is pish so its logical for me to support the hoops. the only reason they support arsenal, man u or liverpool is because they win things

    I like Milan.

I like them because at the time the CL started and we got to see the top teams regularly they were amazing Van Basten, Gullit, Baresi etc. It doesn't make you a glory hunter if you are excited watching a brilliant team.

Some of the comments on here are very close if not trolling. There seems to be alot of this going on in the past week and I along with the rest of the staff getting * off with it.

People support clubs in different countries for different reasons, doesnt make anyone better or worse than them. Generalising everyone outside the UK and Ireland supporting Celtic for gloryhunting reasons is trolling.

The board rules have been overhauled, some of you need to read them fast because we've just about had it with warnings as they arent getting through.

Liverpool have been my English team since I was 4 or 5 and it wasn't because they won trophies. They weren't even successful back then. I became a fan because I liked their team and their players.

A lot of people are glory hunters though. Especially this new batch of Chelsea fans who've mysteriously appeared in the last few years. I can't recall seeing a single Chelsea shirt up here when they were a mid-table team and I see people wearing them all the time now.

i like man utd, barca, brazil, argentna etc
the thread is about Supporting, not liking. mearly liking a team is diffrent to all out supporting them.
to make it clearer there is imo a BIG diffrence to SUPPORTING a team and being a FAN of a team.
Supporting where you week in week out watch them either at the ground or on the telly, you know the history and have an emotinal attatchment to as well as financial support, i.e. buying tickets, dvd, tops etc etc etc
to me, i can't see that being easy for people living in diffrent countries as coverage for a start is limited, merchindice would also have to really be imported although i know it isn't hard to pick up a milan top etc never seeing your team in action too , i feel that that helps you become a supporter, experiencing first hand what a game is like. and also, really take alot of your time and knowing basically what the club is doing at every step with regards to transfers, training complex's etc etc i.e. the way celtic do to alot on here

A fan being a slightly diluted version of that - checking the teletext for the scores, or the paper the next morning. going to the odd game over your life, no real interest in the clubs history or finances etc might buy the odd top, never a dvd or anything as that's not too interesting to them

liking a team being a very diluted version of a fan, basically looking out for how they are doing if ye have spare time, if there on and in a big game, watching it, no REAL interest in watching them play bottom of the league team's, no emotional attatchment. - maybe because they play some beautiful football or you agree with alot of there club belifes

now i havn't called anyone a glory hunter for living in a diffrent country and supporting a team. i HAVE said i find it difficult to understand. perhalps because i don't support anyother team and the standard of play here isn't that poor that its not that common here.

I support Celtic with all my heart and soul but being so far away has made me find comfort in Sydney FC and have since become quite an active member and travel the country watching them. Celtic will always come first but I still support Sydney FC with unlimited passion too. You can support two teams as long as Celtic always comes first.

This really annoys me as well. When I tell people I support Celtic, quite a lot of the time they then ask me but what English team I support and find it bizarre when I say I don't. As for people who support the likes of Man U, well it's easy to support the team that always wins and with the most money, isn't it...gloryhunters.

I live way up North and it's an expensive affair to support Celtic. I was brought up supporting them (I'd get a skelp off my Donegal grandfather if I said anything different), but started heading along to watch Ross County when I was 11 or 12. I see Celtic when I can afford to and support them fully; always have done, always will, but I can also say that I support Ross County. I support Celtic against County when they play, but I fully support County too.

Nothing wrong with that at all mate.

Unfortunately these threads tend to lead to lots of (usually young) Tic fans boasting about their credentials and a view like yours which goes against the simplistic obvious view is deemed somehow inferior.

    Which is patently bollocks.
