Aye it was some pundits only a week ago..

Big Sutton and other's I think..

It is weird though considering Brendan has pretty much said he isn't good enough..

Only way I see him coming here is as a cheap steady backup option for when Armstrong leaves.

I can’t see us getting another midfielder anywhere near the level of Ntcham or Brown this summer so I could see why we would bring someone like McGinn in as a back up.

Think if we were interested though we’d have already made our move. Morgan and Hendry coming to us was the worst kept secret in Scottish football. Doubt we’re going for McGinn.

Aye as an engine like Armstrong would make sense..

I think we'll be focusing our efforts on other positions. Dembele will be off so a striker definitely. A central defender 100%. A right back no doubt. We probably will sign and 8 but can't see it being top priority..

Also signing some new guy's up like Ajer, Rogic etc..

If McGinn was coming he'd of been in the stands at Zenit :fear:

    What about McGeough?

Wouldn't cost a penny. Would walk back. A good squad option as he's very good on the ball..

He isn't great but he's doing well and could slot right in if needed..

What i like about McGinn is he can put his foot in and tackle, strong upper body and hard to shift off the ball, he can get about the park too, shown he can score a goal or two as well.
Totally different player to Armstrong and even if Armstrong stays he might be worth the investment of 3m or so it takes to get him rather than let him go south and then he performs he would be out of our reach.
As he's more of a Brown replacement although Brown was more Gallus and box to box when we signed him.
He's better than anything the huns have in their midfield too although hardly a great gauge, Only problem i could see is he might no go straight into the team as Brown has a good 3 years left in him and He's not better than Ntcham at the moment although it might let us rest Brown at times or if he's out injured we miss him.

McGinn at 23 has 7 Caps and Armstrong at 25 has 6 caps.

We've always had a good core of Scots in our teams and along with Hendry and Morgan coming in snap up the best talent. He is a Celtic fan too I'm sure wich always helps.

No one from Hibs would enhance our team one bit so it's still a resounding no thanks for me.

We've just had Scott Brown announce his international retirement and folk are lining up McGinn as his successor. He's got another 3 years at least in him by which time McGinn would be well into the prime of his career. It would make no sense for him to play second fiddle during that spell of his career because that's all he would be. We'd never see him, so totally pointless in my opinion.

Lennon's wanting 5m for him too big an outlay for someone who mibbe get a game, could put the money to better use such as a 5m RB.

I doubt he thinks they will get that. I thought he only has a year left on his contract too? Really hope we signs him but.

Kouassi has not really been given a chance because of Brown's form and dominance either and we paid 3m for him...maybe Brendan thinks he can step up in time, still McGinn is a good player 5m is a bit steep though i'd possibly take a punt at 2.5-3m.

i really like him but he would be of the type to replace brown and browns not going anywhere and he won't play alongside him as it would hurt our playing options with 2 dm playing, he'll go down south and become a star

If Armstrong is off then it makes sense. His engine is what makes him stand out, and Hibs are twice the team when he plays.

St Mirren have a 25% sell on clause which is why the fee is mental, but with Allan on loan there just now, it could all be negotiated nicely and all parties could’ve relatively happy.

Like I say though it only makes sense if Armstrong is going

Would be a ridiculous thing to do considering we'd be shelling out millions for a guy we'd get for nothing at the end of the 12 months if he doesn't sign a new deal.

He would also help with the Scottish based players for European registration.

I'm sure Tomas means sign him on a long contract then loan him out to Hibs for another season before bringing him into the team so Broony can show him the way to play. If we signed him now he wouldn't be played in the position we're looking to cover in the future. But the last 2 or 3 years under the tutelage of Brown and I think a mature McGinn will be a brilliant player.

    Aye, I understood that.

He has 12 months left on his deal at Hibs so if we wanted to sign him but didn't see him as good enough to make an instant impact then surely it'd make sense to wait 6 months and sign him on a pre-contract in January, rather than pay millions for the privilege?

But there will be other teams wanting him this summer so that wouldn't work out
