Thought this was interesting. I'm not sure whether this is a rumor, but we still might want to try and sign him again.

Zenit St Petersburg ace Anatoliy Tymoschuk has revealed that Celtic manager Gordon Strachan sought to bring him to Parkhead after seeing him playing for Shakhtar Donetsk.

Celtic chiefs travelled to the Ukraine with a view to convincing the highly-rated midfielder to switch to the SPL, but saw his wage demands as a major stumbling block.

However, Rangers' Uefa Cup final opponent - now of Zenit - admits that he would have worn the Hoops had an agreement been reached.
“They came to see me – but in the end I don’t think there was an agreement between the clubs,” Tymoschuk told the Scottish Sun. “It did not reach the stage of agreeing personal terms.

“They first had to agree with Shakhtar and that didn’t happen.
“But if there had been an agreement between the clubs then I would’ve been ready to discuss the terms of my contract.
“Now a long time has passed, but maybe there will be many Celtic fans wanting me to be a winner against Rangers because I know there is a very big rivalry between them.”

Rangers take on Tymoschuk's Zenit in Manchester on Wednesday.

If he shows Bawwy how to run a midfield tommorow night i'll take some solace in the fact we never got him.

He cost Zenit 10m I think, that's quite a lot, but he's a class player, hopefully he shows his worth tomorrow together with Arshavin.

would love him at Celtic Park, but tbh he is now out of our league. Zenit paid £10m for him and he is the heart beat of their team.

brilliant player. we should be looking to bring these types of players to the club, unlike the majority linked with us ie Danny Shittu and West Brom's Robinson etc.

We can, but WGS doesn't like to spend big for unknown reasons.

we can't afford him. theres no way we would speand £10+ on one player. not any time soon.

WGS won't buy big because A) he's not allowed by the board, or B) because of the risk factor in landing another Scheidt
