Other than the first pass, which I'll put down to rustiness, he was composed and looked good on the ball.

Not really tested much today so hard to gauge, important thing was that he got some game time under his belt.

Looks good on the ball but looks like he turns like a train... Will have to wait until he is tested defensively

Think he's a stick on unless Boyata is bang on..

Looked good with the ball. Wasn't tested pace wise but decent first outing..

So hard to say. Not tested defensively. Think Brendan will start with him all the same.

Can tell he has experience. Right place at right time to intercept a few passes.

Think he'll be good for us when he gets up to speed.

Think it’s a bit much to bring him in for the hun. However he should be experienced enough to deal with the occasion. Not sure he’s match fit though

Bit of a tough one regarding starting him next week, a lot of players can crumble getting chucked in to the deep end like that but when the alternatives are Jozo and Lustig then you're thinking can he really be any worse?

Seemed to be in the right place at the right time all game. Good positional awareness which looks like it will help as he doesn’t look the fastest. Good thing Ajer runs like a Spartan. Could be a great pairing going forward

Comfortable with the ball at his feet, can actually pass with either foot which seems like a rare gift for professional FOOTballers.

    Not tested pace wise though.

    This.

It’s not some inexperienced kid we’re talking about. He’s played week in, week out at a higher level than any other player in our team.

MARVIN Compper said he was delighted to finally make his Hoops bow and is now desperate to nail down a regular place in Brendan Rodgers’ side for the crucial run as Celtic pursue a second successive domestic treble.

The German internationalist made his long-awaited debut in Saturday's 3-0 win over Greenock Morton in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup at Paradise, two months after signing for the champions.

An injury during Celtic’s winter training camp in Dubai kept the 32-year-old sidelined for the start to the second half of the season but, having recovered from the mishap, Brendan Rodgers named him in the starting XI for the Scottish Cup tie.

Speaking after the game, Compper reflected on having to wait so long to play his first game in the Hoops and said he was now looking forward to playing regularly having returned to fitness.

“It was a disappointing, when you come to a new club you want to show why you were brought in,” he said. “It took me a while but the first game has been played and I hope I can move forward from there.

“It was a nice feeling to come out and play from the start. My start was a little bumpy but we got the job done and qualified for the next round.

“That was the goal. Certainly it wasn’t one of our best performances but at the end of the day the result is the most important thing.

“The first 15 or 20 minute took me a while to settle in, but I felt more comfortable with every minute. I think the longer the game went, the better I felt.

“Even though Morton are a Championship team you can never take it easy because if you’re not focused enough they can cause you trouble. That’s what happened in the first half and we need to grow as a team in these situations to get the job done from the first minute.”

Having secured their place in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup, Celtic will now turn their attention to next weekend’s Scottish Premiership game (March 11) against Rangers at Ibrox.

Despite having only played one game since returning from injury, Compper said he was determined to show the manager that he was ready to play in the Glasgow derby.

“This is a game everyone wants to play in,” he said. “I’ll do my best during the week to convince the gaffer to put me on. I feel ready, otherwise the gaffer wouldn’t have put me on.

“It’s going to be very intense and will be a battle. We have to be ready from the first minute. We cannot start like today so we have to be ready from the first minute.

“I enjoy these kind of games. These are the games where as a player you have the opportunity to strive and show what you’re made of.”
