Lets say we didn't sign anyone or sell anyone in the summer and stuck with robson/hartley in the midfield how would you see our season going?

i think we'd do o.k mate, but who wants to do o.k? we should do well in the SPL but i think hartley's been found out a few times in europe. we'd still be short up front

You always need changes to freshen the squad. I can see a good few changes like the whole back 4 and a new striker.

i agree Hartley and robson work well in the middle of the park, but we still do not have a lenny type of player. I'd love to see a blood and guts type player in the middle,at times when we need someone to grab the game by the horns we've been found wanting.

I still worry about the defence although we have seemed stronger of late, i always feel they could hit the self distruct button any minute.I always believe we will score goals so i'm not to worried about strikers although if we can get Samaras cheap enough i take him.

I think Hartley's best performance in a Celtic jersey came when we lost 1-0 in Lisbon this season.Hartley these days is at his best in a situation where he's not under any pressure to do anything with the ball.He is a great backs to the wall player but give him the ball and tell him create something and he falls short.A limited player in terms of talent but a very valuable player to have in the squad.

Overall Rendog I think our current 11 might draw too many games.Robson and Hartley are a combination that look suited to scrappy games in the run in.I have a feeling that they may get found out in the long run.

We need stronger, more physical composed players right through the spine of the side for next season.

If that team had been available, fit and on form during the whole season I beleive we would have won the league already this year. We lost Artur, Naka, JVOH and all our FBs to injury for a chunk of the season. We lost JFK, needed Caldwell playing out of position, had a big failure in the shape of Donati, didnt have the option of Robson, had Hartley unfit a fair bit etc. I look on that as a season when luck was very much against us generally and exactly the same team we have now could have done much better, even won a treble or something. The margin is fairly narrow between winning everything and nothing.

Next year though we have to sign a dominant CB, a good natural LB and a defensive CM (mainly cause hartley is getting injury prone). That IMO would virtually guarantee the league next year. Its not so high priority but we could also perhaps do with another striker and someone to give Aidan the odd rest although maybe the plan is to use Koki and Hutchinson to do that.
We really need to ship out Grav, Deeks, Donati, Killen and Doumbe (who is decent we have far too many RBs and he is the oldest). I think Naylor has been poor but I dont feel the need to punt him. Guys like Naylor and Mick can stay as backup.

yep but he is another odd player without a clear position and I wouldnt want to spend too much on him. Talented but odd. Maybe worth 2 million. The 3 or 4 million being talked about is too much.

Our current first 11 if everyone stayed fit I'd think everyone agrees is not only stronger than the huns but we would (theoretically) comfortably walk the league.

However league titles are about depth and we have too many shiters. As important as strengthening key positions are, I feel getting rid of these wage-thieves is equally important.

And once we bring in a quality CB & LB to replace Mick/Naylor I feel Mick/Naylor are both sensible enough and passionate enough about Celtic to stay and fight for their place, as they have shown in the past that they can cut it at the big time. Certainly excellent players to have fighting for a starting slot.

Yeah there is squad room for guys like Mick anyway because Bobo, Elvis, Doumbe etc should be away in the summer. However, watching guys who are adept at mixing skill and steel like Hartley and Robson in the last month or so has really opened my eyes as to how insuited Donati is to SPL type football and we really need to be looking at letting him go for the first bid over 1.5 million quid, which apparently is much nearer what we really paid for him than the 3 million often quoted.

it would be much more sensible to get rid of balde and gravesen ahead of the likes of donati and sno. donati could yet do a turn u never know remember his first few games especially away aberdeen he was great. dunno if his hearts in it though

Teams always have injuries though Keltoi.I don't like using that as an excuse.Bigger factors than that have influenced us this season.

Regarding the squad as a whole I think it is a very good one considering todays market.I agree that we desperatley need a new LB and CB.I think we're alright in CM though.Donati can do a job in the right circumstances,Brown should be better next season,Hartley and Robson can scrap in the away games and Sno can come in and perform as well.If we signed a LB,CM,pacy striker, and possibly even two CBs and we still had money then |I would consider a new CM but it would be down my list of priorities.

Hartley and Robson are fine in the middle!!!!!

Its a feckin solid defender we need in there wi Mick and a TOP striker

if Artur leaves then we better get a good solid keeper in there too.

a decent striker is all we need to be a really good team again
