That's another argument altogether as well about tactically in Europe.

    Zenit will be interesting.

Agreed. I will say tho, that you can tie alot of that in with our best players not being up to par. Sinclairs been off all year and it shows when he doesnt have that killer instinct to run in behind players and take them on. Apart from Forrest, I think almost all our wide players have been average for the most part. Its up to Rodgers to steady the ship.

I think the problem is Ntcham and Brown. They remind me of Gerrard and Lampard in the middle for England. They’ve not gelled well together.

For me, they are too similar, they are both more defensive minded and are more likely to always play back and sidewards without really doing much to push the game forwards.

I’d have Ntcham on and drop our Captain, we need someone more attacking minded in front of a solid Ntcham. I don’t get the hype behind Scott Brown at all but Brendan seems to really rate his performances. Sometimes he does play very well and sometimes they both play well together but it’s too inconsistent.

Ntcham come into the team in the summer and generally speaking, Celtic this season have been a former shadow of last season. There have been a handful of good performances, 2 league defeats should have probably been 4 or 5 if you look at late equalisers in some of our draws. Europe has been a shambles bar 1 lucky away win in Anderlecht.

So yep, my mind is made up that we have a Gerrard and Lampard situation in the middle of our park. It’s a taboo subject speaking about our club captain in this way, he gives his all no doubts, Celtic through and through and is solid but he’s not a great player by his ability. It’s his passion more than anything else but that only runs so far.

And Forrest has tailed off a bit of late. He had a great first few months of the season but think he's been way below that level for over a month.

    I'll agree with that.

Been a frustrating season on the whole in terms of not having those players always readily available.

If you'd have said to me at the start of the season we'd have that defence that finished the game today id have found it hard to believe.

Honestly thought we'd have brought in 2 established CB's in January rather than just the one...even Compper doesn't excite me. Strikes me more as a cheap punt at a player with some experience which could work out.

I know I joked about Hendry but he will take a lot of work to refine. That was one of the first times I'd probably studied him today. Wasn't bad but I don't think he is what we need starting right now...doesnt quite fit with Rodgers' quality over quantity comments.

Granted, I'm intrigued to see how he develops.

In the league we have found consistency, we have been consistently below par. Only a handful of games where we have actually played well

Two league defeats by this stage of the season isn't too worrying tbh.

We were limited in our Plan B options tho as we had to replace two defenders in the first half..

I see this argument being made quite a bit and I'm not sure if I agree with it.

I think they can definitely play together, we've seen it in a few games this season where we have actually played well. Ntcham has had a solid debut season so far and when given the freedom to roam and do an 'Armstrong' type role is more than capable.

He is strong, decent pace, Good passing, good vision and shot. Definitely not defensively minded and he will tell you that himself, said when he first arrived he much prefers being on the front foot.

To some extent, yes he has. But even then, I'm a bit impartial to that idea out of the fact that I think that even when he's off, he's not completely anonymous. Same goes for Griffiths vs Dembele. I find when Dembele is doing nothing, he is doing NOTHING. When Griff is off and isn't scoring, he's still a jitterbug, running about, pressing, and usually creates chances. I find even when Forrest isn't as effective as he can be, he still scares the opposition when he's on the ball. I can't say the same about Sinclair this season, which is pretty grim.

Ntcham and Brown can definitely play next to each other. Not sure how people find them similar. Ntcham is far more attacking.

To be honest, when watching the game today, I did think to myself that we lacked someone driving forward through the middle.

No denying we did but I don't agree for a second that Ntcham isn't capable of doing so.

He just had an average game and had very little time to affect the play. I don't see the similarities with him and Brown.

Tbh, I look at Hendry as a FIFA signing. A young, fast CB with good ability on the ball who has decent potential. I think he can eventually become a solid player for us, and the comparisons to John Stones are relevant in more ways than just appearance.

But as you said, quality over quantity. Not sure I like having 5 CB's who are all decent. Would rather have 2 established, European quality CB's and Hendry and Ajer waiting in the wings. I expected higher pedigree in the last window.

    Everything stems
Everything in the game should be bossed by the 2 central midfielders. The whole team works around those 2.

Ntcham has probably been our best player this year, yes?

But yet he come into the team in the summer and Celtic have been a lot poorer this season? Coincidence or somethings not quite working in the middle of our park?

Yes, perhaps Brendan’s noticed that they are not gelling in the centre and moved Ntcham further forward today but that clearly hasn’t worked today either.

Surely it’s not just me that notices Brown is a very defensive minded player,? Rarely passes forward, he slows the game and passes backwards most of the time. It’s fruatrating to watch. Same again today when we needed an equaliser. He’s the captain and should be driving the team forward.
