McGeady - Spurs?

what a ridiculous post . 8 million, * me , darren bent went for 16! peter crouch went for 11, andy johnson cost 10 million, alan hutton went for 9, craig gordon went for 9 , ....im sick of seeing 8 mill for mcgeady, a top top player who is only 22, and then seeing right next to it 16 million for modric. * is it with these clubs thinking its a fukin car boot sale buyin a player from the spl. ffs hes not for sale as has been stated we dont neeed the money. 8 million , how do we replace him with 8 million, its a complete false economy. and why all of a sudden are sunderland thinking they can raid celtic ffs get these * told lawwell, this * me off to the max...8 fuking million, INSULT

 

i fail to see how my post was ridiculous. all you've done is disagreed with it and then gave me evidence that supports it.

what nationality is Bent, Crouch and Johnson? did i not say 'for English players your looking at outrageous prices'?

Modric is a better player than McGeady imo. its not like Modric was being chased by Newcastle and Sunderland. he had Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal interested, which boosted his price tag.

'hes not for sale as has been stated', EVERY PLAYER HAS THEIR PRICE!!!!!!!!! you think McGeady is an exception?

the only point i can agree on is the £9m a piece for Hutton and Gordon. but £8m is £1m off of that, he won't go for alot more than Hutton or Gordon did.

Although in my heart if McGeady were to go I'd want nothing less than £16 million, I've grown up with the biscuit tin so I have the fear the board would snap the hand off anything over £8 million

i think he won't leave either this summer. i don't think he should anyway, he can improve with us before a big jump to another club. much like Boruc in that way. both have improved a * of alot under WGS. i think if an offer of £9m-£12m, for either, it would be too tempting to turn down by the board.

 

you're right. if we sold Boruc and McGeady for a totaly of £25m and the board expects WGS to purchase replacements and to improve our squad further with £8m, would be an absolute disgrace.

you know how people talk of the market in england being outrageous and you cant compare the selling of mcgeady to aaron lennon or darrent bent? why should it matter if they are purchasing from celtic. he is a much better player than lennon therefore is worth more. so we have a right and it is possible to command 15 million for him. its not just the market within england that pays ridiculous figures. huttons sale for 10 million is ridiculous. so yes u can compare tottenham buying darren bent to a premiership club buying mcgeady. if they think hes worth 15 million theyll pay it

 

Any talk that we should sell McGeady and buy back Maloney is a joke. McGeady is already twice the player Maloney ever was or ever will be. McGeady won't be going anywhere anyway so forget it

Not saying Maloney was/is not good but I think McGeady is in a different league to him to be honest. Think McGeady is happy with us for the next couple of years anyway unless a totally ridiculous offer (15M) comes in for him he is here to stay

 

he has said that he wants to play in la liga one day, as you said he wont be going anywhere for a while yet. i think that when shaun was mc geadys age he was better than aiden is now, he has everything, pace, vision, skill and his FK's are superb

I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one !! I thought McGeady was excellent yesterday though. His work rate was fantastic aswell as the tricks

 

he was good yesterday. but i think if Maloney stayed with us, he would of turned out a better player than McGeady.

 

he was good yesterday but his final ball lets him down on too many occassions, when he needs to be composed and pick a good pass he panics. he has the ability to be better than maloney but he's not there yet imo

 

I think McGeady will stay for at least another season, as for £8million, well I'd like to think that Lawwell would throw that out the window knowing that McGeady can improve his game and push his price tag up further for next season.

 

McGeady is a better all round player than Maloney. McGeady has improved defensively and also he has bettered his ability on taking on and beating players. Maloney has less technique, but more pace and probably better crossing. But Maloney is not the same player as he was a few years ago.

And also I would not want a player who abandoned us to come back. We gave him first team football and helped him win the Player of the year awards. In the end he was always looking to leave for the EPL, and never intended on signing a new contract. Ain't gonna pay 3mil for a player who Villa nicked from us for 1 mill
