Sturridge to Celtic?

Sturridge is a top player, - during the season when Liverpool nearly won the title he was truly brilliant, but he’s someone who we shouldn’t even be thinking about. Huge wages, injury problems, and according to anyone that’s coached him, It’s the psychological impact it seems to have had on him.
There was a piece about Dembélé the other day about him being terrified about his hamstring going and it affecting his running, and performances.
Well Daniel Sturridge seems to be like this, but with every previous injury, he’s been called mentally weak. Supposedly it was worked out that he had been paid more than 500k for every game he had managed to play.
For me we should be concentrating on players around the £5/£6/£7 mark, well as a limit, if we can get bargains great. But I’d prefer I or 2 quality players, who will be a first pick in all the big games, every year than paying big wages for 6 months, even contributing, and loan fees etc. Buy a player who you’ve scouted for a year, and commit. I heard Roberts cost £2 million, - we’re doing Man City the favour, he’s improved big time, so we’ve made their asset more valuable. The experience he’s had in Champions League games might be the biggest games he’ll ever play, yet their fans are saying we’ve ruined his career.
Musonda is another, he’s played about 3 games in a year and a half, I don’t want Celtic paying to make him better.
I know Paddy has been great, I’d just prefer we put all the money and energy into a Ntcham type signing.

 

Sturridge is injury prone, those are Dembele’s stats..

Pretty sure it was Klopp last season who said that he wished some players (not exactly these words, but ultimately) would get a grip and play through the "pain" barrier instead of declaring themselves not fit to play with niggly wee injuries.

As you say above, quality player, excellent striker - not tough enough, and is on astranomical wages.

Silly rumour, and only us mentioned in the rumour mix because of the Rodgers/Liverpool/Sturridge link.

 

Yeah spot on mate - Rodgers was on the Alan Brazil show last season, and although he said how much he thought Sturridge was a great guy, he also said that he’s going to have to find a way to play more games, because when it’s all said and done - he’s missing more games than he’s playing. We’ve got one in Simunovic - he should look at some old tapes of Paul McGrath and Tony Adams, they played their whole career with injury problems. That’s how I laugh when Brendan says we defend aggressively, - there’s a big difference between pressing and being aggressive. Boyata is another who wouldn’t play with a knock. You’ve either got that streetwise/old school mentality or you don’t, you obviously can’t coach it.

A fit Sturridge signing for Celtic would be the stuff of dreams, on par with Harry Kane for me when firing on all cylinders.

Never gonnae happen though. We need someone on Dembélés level who’s fit all the time and looks like he gives 100% every game. I don’t think we’ve been getting that from Moussa this season.

 

Having a fit sturridge in scotland would almost be like entering a cheat code wont happen on the wages he gets though.

 

Total fabrication and will never happen. Only thing is he will be wanting game time which he won' get for Liverpool to push for an England spot in the summer but those * would probably turn their nose up at him even if he scored 50 goals and won us the quad.
