So it is a decent game against Bayern Munich at CP, but based on the last game you deem the first Anderletch game as luck?
Bit hars on the team that. Think if we can go toe to toe with Bayern anwyhere, then we surely must have been more than simply lucky to win in Belgium?

 

Anderlecht were well beaten, and in order to get the Europa League all we had to do was avoid a serious beating at CP. If we needed to beat them in Glasgow we would have done so. BR is no idiot. He is not going to risk passports getting stamped for a needless 3 points.

 

Massive difference in recruitment policy tho MON signed finished article players.. £6m for Sutton and Hartson £5m for Lenny etc...

I'm no buying that excuse if what you say we beat Belgian well in Belgium then we gave then far too much respect in Glasgow

The game was balanced in an odd way no doubt. However we tried to win the game, there was cash and morale up for grabs. Truth is they pressed us very effectively and played like they had nothing to lose, we got there but in some ways it was our most disappointing CL performance. We just didn't turn up!

Lucky to win 3-0 yes, both teams were pretty * for the most part from what I can remember. There was a perfect pass from ntcham for the first, the second was a lucky deflection og and the last was a stoppage time counter with the game over and he Belgians pressing everyone forward. Don’t get me wrong I’m not slagging the players and we were the better team on the night but 3-0 was extremely flattering

 

Very lucky to lose only by a single goal.We were * on the night .No need for sugarcoating.

 

We weren’t lucky to lose by 1.

Gordon made a great save in the first couple of minutes but he never had much to do after it. And their goal was a stroke of luck.

 

I'll remember that game as one of our worst ever performances in Europe at CP.

 

It is possible that we can give our worst performance and the team we play against not deserve to win by a large margin.

The performance was poor but had Brendan set up as usual to attack from the off and we ended up losing goals like we did in Astana then he’d have been slaughtered for not being pragmatic and ensuring we didn’t lose heavily first and foremost.

 

I try not to.But aye ,I get your point.
After the pumping we received from PSG ,I was hoping for a statement from the team against Anderlecht,never mind getting good enough result to progress to EL.

 

I know, the performance on the night was poor. Rodgers making the 2 subs at HT showed he wasn’t satisfied with the contribution of some. Had the order of the games been reversed and we lost 1-0 in Belgium then won 3-0 at Parkhead to qualify I think people would be less critical, even though the end result is exactly the same.

 

Does anyone have a link to talk of this £40m overhaul and six players coming in?

 

I really miss having a striker who is strong in the air ,like a Larsson , hartson ,Sutton ,we need an "on" but seriously it would be nice to have that threat again ,we don't seem to be producing strikers anymore .

 

Would be great, but they are far and few between. None of the top sides really have one??
