69 games unbeaten is a great achievement. Couldn’t blame Rodgers for any of his decisions today, we had all 3 strikers on and still couldn’t score. Need to spend big on 2-3 defenders and a winger

Brendan on the radio the now:

    Firstly, congratulations to Hearts.

We didn’t deal with the direct ball.

Or Centre halves didn’t deal with it.

    We didn’t defend properly.

    Too many mistakes

Took a risk at half time as we needed goals. Started bright then conceded another soft goal.

Proud of the players for 69 match run, will probably never be beaten.

Told the players to remember what this defeat feels like. The run is in the past now, we made history. We now go again.

    Great words from Brendan.

I honestly think this defeat sparks us on to moving on to the next level.

This could see the difference in us signing some * like Martin Comper, to someone of genuine quality at the back.

As long as we see a * decent goalkeeper coming in I'd be delighted.

Brilliant last season and poor this term so far. His signings in general haven'tbeen the best with good player management. Certainly not hitting the heights of Lennon or Strachan in Europe.

Boyata has been his main downfall.

The whole unbeaten thing was becoming such a * burden on the team tbh.

Glad it’s done, we have had our invincible season and some more as said it will never be beaten.

Now we can kick on from here and turn it back up a few notches and remind the rest why we are the best by a long shot.

We failed to cope with their style, in particular in the second half."

BR: "We didn’t defend we’ll enough & made too many mistakes. Congratulations to them, they won the game and deserved to win the game."

BR: "It’s a matter of pride for the players. The run’s come to an end, 69 games is a real historical achievement. I thanked them for that at the end. Of course in the game itself we made too many mistakes to get anything out of it."

BR: "We put risk into the second half and we started okay. We went all out to try and get something in the second half but then we gave away another poor goal and we suffered with that. The players kept going to the end and too many mistakes cost us."

BR: "Defensively we struggled. The pitch wasn’t so great so Hearts weren’t building their game, they were playing a direct game. We failed to cope with Lafferty in that first period. He gave our two centre-halves problems."

BR: "That’s fundamentally what you have to do to win a game, you have to be able to defend well. I thought Mikael Lustig was good but otherwise we didn’t cope so well."

BR on what he said to the players in the Huddle at the end of the game: "I wanted to pull the players together and let them be aware that they were better than us today and we have to accept that

BR: "But what they have done is absolutely amazing and they need to use this feeling that they haven’t felt for 18 months, use it as a leaver moving forward - let’s learn from it and be better for it."

BR: "We’re a bigger target because of what we’ve done so we have to accept that and go and look to win our next game."

BR: "There’s no getting away from it. The number of games we’ve played, this is what we want, we want to play those games. Over this 18-month period we’ve been able to galvanise and get our way through fixtures.

BR: "We weren’t able to do that today and we made too many mistakes. We’ll be fine, we’ll recover from today."

BR on the Celtic fans staying to the end and saluting the team: "It was great support from our supporters. I think they recognise what the team have given over the past 18 months."

Ridiculous the amount of hyperbolic pish you see fans writing on places such as this and on social media. The run had to come to an end eventually and it's happened today. It's been coming for a while and we've done incredibly well to remain unbeaten for as long as we have, this achievement will probably never be matched. The fact that people are suddenly questioning Rodgers and players like Tierney after one defeat in 70 domestically would be funny if it wasn't so sad. The amount of games we've played outside of that in Europe and the schedule we have had, particularly this December and last December is bound to take its toll on the players. Hopefully this is a weight off the players now and we can go back to focusing on getting the basics right and add some quality in January and we'll go again.

You know full well behind closed doors, just because in the manner we were beat Rodgers has probably ripped these guys to shreds.

Hope this defeat means Rodgers can go to the board and demand the needed investment in the defence and take us to a higher level and achieve something in the Europa.

    * WHAT?

His signings havent been the best? Sinclair was top scorer last season and looks like hes going to beat that goals tally this season. Dembelle again , last season banging in the goals and sadly been plagued with injuries this season and has yet to be back to his best yet is still a cut above the rest in quality. Ntcham looks a step above the rest despite being young, has mostly been the most effective player for us in the champions league despite not getting a run of games. Hayes was purely bought to weaken aberdeen and Gamboa was always bought in as back up.

Strachan in europe was a time when the gap between europes elite and the rest wasnt as big as the massive chasm of money we now have and lennon done absolutley hee haw in his first two seasons in europe.

Boyata is not to blame , its the fact that we dont have the funds to compete anymore even with the English championship ffs.

Your talking about downfall when we have just made the uk record for games unbeaten as well as securing european football after christmas.

    Well Ntcham, Hayes & Edouard.

More making a point that he's made signings in the summer and tinkered with the team yet we look like a weaker side than last season. I think all the chopping and changing has left a few players unhappy. There's something not right this season.

BRENDAN Rodgers said his players will go down in history for their incredible 69-game unbeaten run, which came to a conclusion today following a 4-0 defeat to Hearts at Tynecastle.

The Celtic manager gave credit to Hearts and admitted that his side didn't perform well enough to take the three points from what was their fifth game in the month of December.

Speaking to the media after the match, he said: "We failed to cope with their style, particularly in the second half. We didn’t defend we’ll enough and made too many mistakes. Congratulations to them, they won the game and deserved to win the game.

“When you come to places like this you have to be at your physical best and we weren’t today. Like I say, you have to give them credit. The mantra is the same, win your next game. Win, lose or draw the mantra is always win your next game.

"It’s a tough one, it (a domestic defeat) was always going to come and when it does you need to be ready for it mentally.

"Now we focus on these last games through to the end of the year. They’re going to be important for us and, like I say, we’ll recover and go again in the second part and that’s what we’ll look to do after this defeat.”

The Scottish treble-winners will now look forward as they attempt to return to winning ways against Partick Thistle on Wednesday night. But, reflecting on unbeaten run, which started back in May 2015, Brendan Rodgers praised his team for their staggering levels of consistency.

“It’s historical," he said. "I think people will look at it in different ways and that’s down to their perspective. The reality of it is, it was a history-breaking run.

“To go 69 games undefeated, no matter what level or competition, is a remarkable achievement and the players will go down in history because I’m not sure it will be done again. Certainly in our lifetimes it won’t be done and they can take huge pride in that.

“It’s in the past now and one of the key things with success is looking forward. They’ll go into the history books and we’ll reflect on the game tomorrow and look to find the solutions to be better in our next game."

Our defence is so badly organised at times. Hearts first goal is an example of what worries me about BR and is something we have seen on occaisions now. Why is Gordon allowed to play such risky passes which often put us under pressure?

Its always been a weak point of Rodgers teams and something which i hope he manages to address. We are guilty of overplaying deep in our own half.

Jesus Christ you'd think it was the end of the world in here.

There'd been warning signs for weeks, so I'm not shocked the run has come to an end.

69 unbeaten games is an outstanding achievement. We'll most likely never see something like that ever again.

Demanding for BR to be sacked and KT and Sinclair to be sold is just spur of the moment, angry thoughts.

I haven't seen the game but from all accounts Hearts outplayed us the whole time and didn't give us a moment's rest. Congrats to them for doing what no other team could do in a year and a half of domestic action.

The Invincible season was fantastic, but you could tell it was starting to become a burden on the players. This will hopefully allow them to loosen up and play with more freedom now that they don't have to worry about making a mistake and costing us the unbeaten run,

Proud of the team and proud of the club for what they've achieved domestically since BR came in. It was always going to end eventually. Not saying we shouldn't be analysing what went wrong and how we can prevent another tanking like the one Hearts gave us (I think the CB issue definitely needs to be looked at), but take a step back and appreciate what we witnessed.
