only game i would buy a ps3 for is metal gear solid but then again it seems every new game that comes out you have to install part of it lol stick to xbox360 its where the real gamers are also the only place to get exclusive gta 4 download content and did i mention gears of war 2 is out in november.

I'm trying to decide that too. Quite fancy GTA IV, but I'll have to make the choice. Dedicated PS2 man, but the 360 is a lot cheaper than the PS3, but has a * controller.

Does it not cost money to play online with the 360?

ima ps3 owner so im biased but yes you do have to pay for the xbox live £40 a year and the contollers are dodgy as was mentioned plus the ps3 has frequent updates to improve the consle the xbox only has a few a year.

both are extremely good consles though.

Right now, Id say the 360 is slightly better (For range of games, graphics (GTA is better on the PS3 though) etc) but PS3 is a better choice in the long-term. I read somewhere that the 360 is already using 75% of its potential whereas PS3 is only using 20%. Few of my mates also have had the Xbox "Red ring of death" which basically fooks the whole comp up, not that rare of an occurance either. PS3 would be my personal choice mate. Also, online is free :50: It might be more money, but in 2 years I guarantee you'll wish you bought a PS3. New Xbox is coming out in about 3 years.

what are you guys talking about dodgy controllers pmsl the xbox controller is far better than that flimsy 6 axis crap plus the £40 for xbox live is a bargain imo not to mention mearly every game goes up to 1080p/i on the ps3 they all seem to be 720p plus games are cheaper on xbox there are more games you have a much better friends list and achievments for every game which really make a game worth playing and rewarding

Some of us don't have parents who'll be replacing our consoles every two/three years. :icon_mrgreen:

I meant that in 2 years the gap between Xbox and PS3 will be huge. It will be like PS2 to PS3 currently. Currently, both are on about a Par, with the Xbox having a bit better graphics in some games (Not many though). PS3 has years of potential. Xbox is close to its peak. Plus, wireless controllers are awesome :50:

    Xbox 360

you may have to be £39 for xbox live every year but its definately worth it, the marketplace has more DLC, the friends system is superior to PS3, users can also sign into Msn on xbox 360, you can download trials for any arcade game or buy them with microsoft points, you will find alot of classic games e.g Bankshot Billiards, Worms, and lots of other fun arcade games.
Ps3 may have a bigger Hard Drive with a 60gb compared to 360 20b(excluding 360 elite which has 120), but as you may find, you most likely wont need 60gb of space,
    the ps3 is also a larger console with dimensions About 13.5" x 3.25" compared to Xbox 360's 10.25" x 2.5" -
Also from experience i find alot more players on xbox 360 play with headsets which IMO is better, although nothing is more irritating than those 12 year olds sqeaky voiced little * who come in screaming and shouting and teamkilling.
There also seems to be alot more younger kids on xbox 360 rather than ps3 - probably because of the price and the release date of the console.
the xbox is also around £200 cheaper than the ps3.
Ps3 comes with a built in Blu Ray Dvd Player compared to 360s standard player, you can pick up a HD dvd player addon for around £100, Ps3 over powers xbox here.

xbox 360 also recently announced their IPTV service, which is a service miscrosoft has been working on for a cupla years, it will be an On demand service which can you record watch and discuss movies progammes and more from nowhere else than on your xbox 360, you can chat to your mate for example while watching tv, your game alerts and friends list is still accessible while using this service(just like playing a game)

Also 360 is a year older than ps3 which means game developers are developing second generation games which means their fully compatible with microsofts hardware. This also means in about a years time Ps3 will have even better graphics than what it does now.

the ps3 also as you may know use Blu ray discs which can store lot more than xbox 360's HDDVD,

xbox 360 also has alot more games that are Xclusive to xbox, Gears of War, Halo series, Bioshock, Forza Motorsport 2, and Shadowrun, shadowrun is the first game of its kind, it allows PC users to play with xbox 360 users together. we will be seeing alot more games like this i promise you.

to conclude this wall of words, my opinion is right now xbox 360 is better, mainly because of the online system due to the fact it is a year older and more advanced, but dont get me wrong psn is on their trail,
PS3 will continue to get better graphics and games as game developers can store more on Blu Ray, but its all a users preference and thats what it will be for years to come, just thought id post up some facts to backup my point instead of just saying.... xbox 360 FTW

well mate am xbox 360 and used to be a ps diehard but not saying i would not go back but if i was you i would grab myself a 360 is about the same as a ps3 at the moment and can keep up for about a year or so at this rate and is cheap as chips

BUT..... i have had the ring of death as have 2 of my friends but you do get a 3 year warranty thats a bit *

and some will say but you have to pay for online its 40quid a year for * sake hardly breaks the bank

so if you are a bit strapped for cash get a 360 mate and wait till next year when the ps3 is cheaper trust me at the moument you are not getting anymore for your money

but i will prob be getting myself a ps3 when it can justifiy its price on the market

I went from xbox 360 to PS3. The range of games on the 360 is far better than that of the PS3, and it's taking the PS3 a while to catch up. Saying that it does now have it's must play game - GTA IV. which is graphically stunning and from what i've played of it so far, really good.

Another stunningly great game would be Assassin's Creed (also on 360). If your a FPS person then maybe with the likes of the Halo trilogy and Gears of War not to mention the plethora of COD games available that might be more to your liking. However having played Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, Assassin's Creed and GTA IV graphically the PS3 wins hands down. I've not tried the online options yet but i have seen Warhawk on PS3 which given the limited amount of time i spent playing it look the part.

Money wise get an xbox 360. But for an investment get a PS3, don't buy into the HD nonsense, Blu-ray is the future. But if you can spare the cash get yourself a PS3 and i highly recommend GTA IV and Assassin's Creed to Start with, even Burnout Paradise is a great racer and with Midnight Club LA being released soon, end of May, (Another Rockstar game!) it's all good:50:

Got to be a PS3. Its a superior piece of kit. Your used to the playstation controller. Yes there are fewer games but all you need is cod4 and gta4 and your life is complete. Playing online is simple and easy to connect it wirelessly.

The Xbox has a hairdryer built in to cool it down wheras the PS3 is silent and looks better.

    Okay,,, FACTS!!!

yea the 360 is cheaper but the * cheap version only has analogue out. no hdmi or dvi-d, this is * if u want to get the most of ur hd tv/monitor.

Someone said the ps3 can fit more on thier blu ray disks than the 360 can on their HDDVD disks.....360 doesnt come with hddvd as standard, just normal dvds (this is a good thing i suppose because sony have won the format war and hddvd has now been discontinued, even tho loads of peopple bought the hddvd addon) this means games that are being developed to be used on both platforms are being restricted to only using the 4.5 gb capacity of a dvd.

Ps3 is a blu ray player, these cost a few hundred quid on thier own and they now look set to become standard, albeit in a few years. its an investment.

They amount of games for the ps3 is starting to catch up with the 360 although there is a long way to go, plus there are loads of exclusives titles in development.

PlayTV, an attachment for ur ps3 that turns it into a kind of freeview sky+ box is being released by sony soon. this also means u effectively have a freeview box with hdmi out so u can watch HD freeview channels when they start cropping up.

all in all the ps3 is for the future and the 360 is at its peak.

and the 360 controllers are gay

    and it looks *

    etc. ;)
