Anyone else feel like our midfield is amazing atm?

Hartley - doing good in the holding role as other thread says. we could do better, but still doing good nonetheless.

Naka - He may be inconsistent, but his moments of magic, and good performances make him well worth it. And i think he is widely considered a top class player now

Mcgeady - Outstanding player, gettign better all the time. Occasionally makes the wrong decisions (passes instead of shooting, shoots instead of passing, etc) but he's young and that comes with experience. could one day become as good as christiano ronaldo

Robson - been great recently. Delivers some good corners, good at freekicks (maybe if naka's feeling tired :p) and can perform under pressure, ie today.

With these players playing more together and getting to know each other's play, they collectively, and individually, can only get better.
I also think all of the above are driven and motivated (ok, sometimes naka may look not interested) and the team now feels like we have some heart again.

I dont think i would replace any of the above players withut spending at least 5 mil

    agree/disagree?

totally agree mate ,i think neil lennon has a lot to do with it ,robson has got to be the mainstay in there he has virtually turned that midfield round in a matter of weeks ,naka ,ive slated him in the past but being lazy ,lightweight etc but he is actually throwing him about getting right there ,and doing well ,notice when the hun put the boot into him the day i thought naka was going to retaluate the way he got up ,the hun got sent off anyway ,aye mate the midfield are doing the business ,long may it continue

Hartley isn't going to last much longer. He's slow as * as well. Would replace him in a minute.

Robson is looking good, i like his attitude and style of play.
Naka & Aiden both doing well. Don't see that we have much, if any, cover for them though? No real wingers at the club who would get a game if any of them are injured.

Think a new centre-mid is crucial. Donati, Sno, Gravesen are all pish poor, would try get rid of them if we can. Not made up my mind on Brown, think he is a good player but just not doing it yet.

I think the midfield are playing superbly at the minute but i want rid of tommy g, deeks and donut and think we should sign another holding MF and another winger. would give us options and competition which we dont really have at the minute, the team picks itself apart from balde/caldwell or brooooon/robson

I think Riordan could maybe go to a smaller team in the english 1st division.
And for the other two, no, you would need yo be daft to take them.

If he actually lived up to his billing then yes.

Think its well known that Strachan is looking for a top quality holding midfielder in the summer. Hopefully he can pull something out the bag along with a left back, centre back and striker.

Actually, he's done not bad with the dead wood tbh.
Donatti has only been dead weight recently. i think the minority rather than the majority would have said "get him out" at christmas.

Riordan could be considered dead weight. But up until recently most people have been moaning for strachan to play him rather than sell him.

Scott Brown, not dead weight yet.

Gravesen. We got rid of him as soon as we could last season, and i'm sure the manager will try his hardest to get rid of him ASAP when he comes back.

And Killen, get him tae *!

sorry i have to comment on this, im sick of people going on how great are midflield is(well central midfield that is), tell me one good thing hartley did yesterday, rangers owned our midfield that whole first half. hartley and robson remind me of mcmanus, they bleed green and white and give it everything but at the end of it they're extremely average. Im sick of gs spending big money on frightenly over rated spl players from hibs hearts etc. I believe are wingers are carrying that midfield.

If Naka stepped up his game more often then yes it would be a brilliant midfield

I think next season that Hartley, Robson, Naka, Brown,Aidan and Koki is a very decent group but I agree that Hartley is getting on and seems injury prone so I think we need a top holder to be added, one with skill as well as steel. .

thats the first time ive heard anyone talk down hartleys contribution to the game yesterday. i dont think he was outstanding as some pundits claimed but he was essential. he has been one of our most consistant performers all season he rarely has a bad game. dont think WGS has spent big money. 2mill for robson and hartley? what a steal theyr the nucleus of our team. big money for brown but you can tell he has quality we jst need to unearth it. maybe it will come now his place is up for grabs:celt_2::celt_2::celt_2:

you think we could afford/attract kevin nolan to the club. he would fit the bill although he is more of an attacking midfielder i suppose...

id say we could afford if PL splash some desparately needed cash

only thing is the foreign route hasnt worked well with JJ, Donati and Grav all failing to adapt to SPL type argey bargy. There is probably no league in the world where players have less room and time and teams defend with 11 behinf the ball most of the time.

We also cant aford EPL players of a decent level so thats another reason why its often SPL players. I think its easy to underestimate how dificult it is to get top players for the 2, 3 maybe 4 million bracket.

I really rate Hartley but he was obviously unfit v Rangers and had his worst game this season in the first half. He seems to have been carrying some injury or fitness problem for a while now. What I find frustating is we can see he can play the lenny role well but we know he can do a lot more - we saw it for hearts when he was an absolute dynamo. Might just be going over the hill now and thats why.

he doesnt do badly but he plays average, all he seems to be able to do is put a hard tackle in and hoof the ball, we might be able to get away with it in the spl. i havent seen a good central midfield since lenny and petrov, i tear my hair when i hear we're going for another average spl player and love it when rangers get like thompson and naismith, their muck, i perfer to hear us going for that croatian international for the same money range.
also somebody please tell robson to leave the set pieces to naka.

    what?
did you watch the last few matches? robson's crossing from set plays has been excellent, naka has hardly set up a goal from a set piece all season, always manages to hit the first man
