Shouldn't be underestimated how special a result that was.

Look through Europe over the last few years, rare as rocking horse * for that scoreline at this level. Including all the massive clubs from England, Spain and Italy playing lesser teams.

    Brilliant, brilliant, night.

Unreal. Un-*-real. Waht's the last time we scored five in Europe? Something like FK Suduva? And wee teams weren't at this level back then.

Also, let's hear it for Griff and his much maligned LINK-UP PLAY. Absolute hero. Can't wait to see more of his celebration, pretty sure he was mauled by a couple of fans there.

    Very, very happy.

What's everyone's preference for the draw? Do you want 'glamour ties'? or an easy route to the last 16? Easy route every time for me. Something similar to Leicester's group last season would do me nicely

Wow Wow Feckin Wow!!!...What a result....Brendan must have had some calming words at half time becayse we were a totally different team in the second half. Ncamp was outstanding, 21 yr old, what a player we have. Fair play to Bitton, I wasn't impressed that he was playing CB but did what he had to do. A couple of times his positioning was suspect but as not a natural CB that has to be expected. And soooooooooo good to have Scott Sinclair back, he has finally finished pre-season!!! I'm buzzin, cant wait until work tomorrow to get at the Sevconians !! Awesome night.

I'm not even going to waste time elaborating on all that, just brilliant will do, I even had a 5 team accumulator come up to seal the deal.

Can we run a poll tomorrow to predict who will be the first member to start getting negative about the second leg before Tuesday, long trip blah blah blah, plastic park blah blah blah :57:

When's that draw? Bring on Real this time

Beautiful Sunday - the IRA version
    Absolutely * delighted.

Have to say I felt we were lucky to be 2-0 up at HT.

However, in the 2nd half we were absolutely sensational, totally dominant and you always felt we were going to score. After the third went in, I genuinely felt we'd math the 5 we scored against Ber Sheva last year. Unreal performance. Can finally sit and watch a second leg game in relative comfort.

    Hail, Hail
Astana were playing a high line because they wanted to press our defence. We found space and passes in the areas between their defence and midfield. Found Sinclair to feet in space in front of the defence in between the centre half and right back. The 1st goal came from the same space on the opposite with Rogic. 2nd goal while fortunate with the break of the ball into the massive gap in behind the defence. Thought we should’ve been looking to occasionally play early over the top. Goalie never covered himself in glory on it either. Griffiths with a free header and Sinclair had a wee half chance on the turn earlier. They had decent possession and more than any team have in recent times. But it was for majority played in front of our good defensive shape. Causing us problems from the corners though, relatively unchallenged or the chance in the 1st half. Have a fair bit of pace on the counter, if we were sloppy then that would have been a problem. However, we defended well

2nd half, with the high line they played, we had a couple of opportunities to play the ball early over the top. Bitton took that chance, Rogic was brave and won the flick on. Great combination play between Griff and Sinclair. Great timing on the pass from Griffiths and good finish. A matter of minutes later, a ball over the top and Griffiths normally composed tried to kill the ball with his effort. Poor decision. just after making a great choice for the goal. After the 3rd goal they seemed to have lost the poise on the ball and desire to play. A dodgy moment from a set piece aside, we defended very well. Great 4th goal. Ntcham had a peach of switch to Tierney earlier in the half. Provided a peach to Griffiths. Class first touch, class pass into the run and good finish from Shooders. Goalie hadn’t looked clever but * them. 5th goal, Griffiths finding the same space as he did for the 4th. Big deflection although if it was on target, the goalie would probably not have stopped it. While some of his teammates shown in flashes, he shown over the 90 mins how poor he is.

Overall, defensively played very well, credit to Big Nir. Stepped in a played well. So valuable with the passes into midfield and one long ball which lead to a goal. Done so under the high pressure from Astana, guy pressing the ball and then another line of 4 between him and the midfield. The quality of his passing and from Jozo, allowed us to beat the pressure and beat the will out of them. Gave us the foothold in the game and the base to attack. Jozo, Bitton, Brown and Ntcham all took the ball under pressure and gave us the platform to go forward. Superb. Sinclair found more space in the 2nd half as they fell apart. Was now able to get turned and running at the defence. Combination with Griffiths for the 3rd goal was class in every aspect. Passes, movement, timing of the passes and decision all in one fine example. Rumour has it Brendan had pointed out the vulnerability of Astana in the latter stages of the tie last year. And going by it, we’ve went for them big time in the 2nd half.

5-0 and a clean sheet. Doesn’t get much better.
