id play the same team today but prob but in a bit of a dif formation
have caldwell as the holding midfilder with instructions not to attack really
jsut to have someone infront of the defence and i would say it would be his best role
have hartly behind any attacks to try and recieve the balls and attack back straight away

I think the team that beat Motherwell deserve a run of a few games without changes. The team looked hungry and balanced.

If he brings Donati back I will be dissapointed as Hartley and Robson do more for us. They work harder than Donati.

The more Scots the better, they understand the Old Firm. They understand the importance and that comes through in their game.

    Exactly.

It's annoying to think we had a winning team for the Huns and the Motherwell game on the bench or in the stands.

I prefer Scots or English, they show more fight and the aggresion needed for SPL and Old Firm games.

I think its certain he will spring a suprise in this game he always does in big games i.e. Jarosik in champs league , Naka behind big jan in Barca and Mcdonald on the bench against the scum i hope there is a bit of common sense with his selection and starting with the team that started against Well although probably everyone on TC would like big Bobo playin we are wasting our time on this one cause hes no chance of starting unless one of our troublesome two centre halfs get injured my prediction 2-1 the hoops

stick to the winning formula that one yesterday. We need a bit of consistency in are team selections. In regards to the old firm game i think we are going to pump them by at least 3 goals. They are due a good hiding and i know its going to be us

I see the huns tried a cheeky 4-4-2 at the weekend - I think this is a bit of a curveball for Strachan as Smith will be wanting to show he can play without 4-5-1. I watched the Partick highlights last night and Rangers would be destroyed by us if they go 4-4-2.

They will go 4-5-1 and we will struggle to break them down. If we are lucky we will thrash them. If we're REALLY unlucky we might lose 1-0. Really though if we play well we should have no problem.

Same team against motherwell and for the rest of the season. Hartley should start every game. I think though Brown will come in for Robson.

We play the same team, if it's 0-0 with 30 mins to go bring on Samaras for the pOOrer of the two up front and the big man will run the tired * into the ground.

We tried to match them in the air last week, didn't work. Now we out play them, run them ragged, get naka and robson some free kicks.

    Who's the ref?

3-5-2 would be great.....IF we had Lenny playing in the defensive midfield role. Hartley is okay in that role but he would have a lot more to do if he had to cover for just a 3 man defence instead of a 4 man one.

If we were to play that formation I'd prefer Robson in for Naka and Wilson in for Naylor.

    Boruc

    Caldwell........................... Bobo............................. McManus

    Hartley
    Hinkel..................................................................................Wilson

    Robson...............................................McGeady

    jVoH......................Skippy

With that formation I predict a score of CELTIC 1 RANGERS 7 as we would leave ourselves open to counter attacks and the Hun would love that.

I think we should stick to the same formation as Sunday at Fir Park.

You maybe right however I think we need to try something different than 4-4-2 as it has not been successful thus far against the Hun. Your line up for playing 3-5-2 would be a good one with Wilson in for Naylor and Robson for Naka.

If not 3-5-2 and with the evidence so far that 4-4-2 has not been working in these games. Then do you have an alternative formation.?

Just for fun though as we all know that WGS will not deviate from 4-4-2 and as you sugest the same side that played at the weekend will most probably start on Wednesday.

3-0 to celtic or 3-1 the huns are well overdue a good humping.... i think strachan should keep the formation and the same team as he had on sunday n less of the long ball pish from naylor * * he just floats them in gives defenders all the time in the world to clear it

While I don't mind the formation in principle, I feel we are not utilising the players correctly. First of all our top scorer- is bunged wide-right. Surely it would make more sense playing our top-scorer in his preferred position.

If we really HAD to go 4-5-1/4-3-3 I don't think McDonald is fit for the lone striker himself, so I would have Venegoor/Samaras lone striker with Naka and McGeady on the wings. The benefit here is that the wingers can drop back to make a 4-5-1 when we don't have the ball. Saying that though - who wants to play like the dirty huns?

With our personnel, the fact the players know how to play it and the fact the entire club is geared up for it from the bottom upwards there will be no deviation from the 4-4-2 anytime soon unless a major one off. If anything as he has done a few times he'll sacrifice a striker but play an attacking midfielder just off him.

A bit like Supermike. I have no problem with this formation just the players you have selected in certain positions.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
I think JVH upfront on his own would not work so well as he is not mobile enough. With Skippy not big enough to play that role then for me the best option in this formation would be Samaras.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
I also think with Naka playing left of a three this would make us weak defensively on that side as Naylor is not playing well enough and would be exposed at times. So if fit I would probably put <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:smarttags" /><st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Wilson</st1:place></st1:City> in that position and put Naka in Skippy´s position. This would make this formation more balanced and workable but I would prefer a second striker as I don’t think any of our forwards are quick, mobile or strong enough to play upfront on their own and with the rest of the side not really contributing with goals this season I think we would be reducing our goal threat.<o:p></o:p>

I'm talking about a striker with two Centre forwards in support. Three man midfield.

I think you're maybe right about Naka but I'd leave him out altogether and put McGeady on the right and maybe Samaras or Hutchinson left.
Jan has to lead the attack.

Why change the formation , when over the past weeks its been clear its the players passion and ability to finish that has been the problem?
