The club allow the ignorant to classify some of our songs as sectarian when they are clearly not.

If/when UEFA or other organisations comment on songs such and The Boys of the Old Brigade as pass ill informed judgement on them the club should be on the attack educating such people.

Ah, if in doubt question someone's loyalty to Celtic or their political stance...

    I see what you did...

Glad I asked the question then as I completely agree with that.

    Thank you for asking.

Too many on here have entrenched opinions and refuse to entertain the right of others to hold alternative views.

Or he could have a Phd in Irish history but just doesnt want celtic hit with fines and feels it unnecessary to bring support of paramilitaries into a game of football?

This attitude holds no more value than believing anyone who takes pleasure in flying political banners at celtic games are simpleton attention-seeking neds who can only deal with complex political issues through football tribalism.

The kind of polarity these debates lead to is ridiculous.

Agree with this, both side are coming out with some stupid comments already this morning.

Both Rodgers ones were very cleverly done (and hilarious imo), but there was nothing clever or even funny about the 3rd one and it's going to be the one the is plastered all over the place and gets us hammered.

You were advocating abiding to an associations rules even when they are inherently flawed. Authority should be challenged when that is the case, Celtic done so and prevailed. I was asking if you agreed with Celtic's stance as that would be tantamount to hypocrisy.

The 3rd one was a sketch of how Brendan Rodgers disguses himself as he goes for his weekly shop in ASDA. Clearly there was nothing more sinister than that.

There was/is a London based singer called Sean Brady (I'm sure many on here will know him for his most famous song, 'The Thatcher Song') who, when much younger, I used to follow around and always went to see him at his residency at a pub in Camberwell whose name I have forgotten.

Anyway, he has a sartical song called 'The Taoiseach's Hooley' which depicted a fictional scene in which leading members of the British establishment and the Unionist community gathered together in Dublin to join in festivities with the Irish Government. It was hilarious and some of the lyrics still make me laugh as I type this out now.

However, although such scenes never did take place things changed so much that Martin McGuinnes and Ian Paisley became dinner companions and others on both sides of the divide - and who saw active service - became friends.

The peace treaty was signed over 20 years ago and most people who were affected by The Troubles want to put it behind them: and who can blame them.

So, as I said, let a section of Linfield fans live in the past. We're better than that.

The World has moved on and we have a responsibility to ensure the hatred of previous generations is not passed down and, on a less serious note, that the reputation of the club we all claim to support is protected.

The point I am trying to make here is not that the GB can do whatever they want, the point is that an overwhelming majority of fans in attendance at the games support what they do be it last night, on trophy day or any other day. They are not displaying banners or holding opinions that are alien to the support in attendance, or run contrary to how the rest of the stadium feel. The argument in here seems to be that there is a sizeable portion of the support who want them 'weeded out' and feel they do not speak for the support, which is demonstrably untrue.

This hand wringing about our reputation only exists on the internet and the board room, and without calling people real fans or otherwise I think it's crass for the self loathers on the Internet forums to tell those in attendance what is and isn't acceptable in the stands.

What we should be doing is banding together and fighting for the PLC to stand up for us rather than rolling over to UEFA constantly

So, I do have your permission to class myself as a Celtic fan? Just need confirmation.

Only idiots want the GB banned outright and forced out from Celtic Park.

The sensible view that they need to be more responsible and possibly vetoed is the one most making criticism are making.

If we want to play in the champions league then we should be * abiding by their laws. Its that simple. Uefa do not allow anything political in their games. *, whether you agree with the Poppy or not, both Scotland and England were fined for having that on their strips in June. Uefa aren't on the witch hunt against Celtic or the Green Brigade. It's actually a very good rule to have. Football and Politics are two completely different things. Keep them sepeate and save the aggro of fans who have different political backgrounds, like yesterday, clashing over each other. If Linfield had a banner of a UDA fighter last week we would have been in uproar and quite * right. Everyone has political and religious views, not once have I expressed mine in this thread, never mind at celtic park. I have never once said that I disagree with what the Green Brigades political views are. Nor have I stated that I agree with the other side. What I have said is that Politics and Football have no place together. Keep the politics to one side and keep football as the main focus when it comes to our stadium. We are * sensational to watch on the park, we have just had one of the best seasons in the clubs history and we would rather display a banner about the IRA than the Invincibles.

And how do they do this exactly?

It's UEFA's competition we're playing in, they make the rules, we break them and the club gets fined.

The club should show support by refusing to pay these fines and....we get banned from the competition? UEFA aren't going to say "Yeah we've thought it over on you go lads"

Ok I may have stretched that a bit but tbh * all this political correctness. It's a * banner end of.
How many sets of fans wreak havoc at every away game in europe? Never heard of this from our support in recent times. The reason we have the support we do is well known to all. Our Irish heritage makes us celtic not the middle class prawn sandwich brigade.

Pretty much how i see it. I don't think it's any secret what the majority of Celtic fans think about Linfield or Irish history in general but not referencing anything political would have been more significant last night, in my opinion. Especially after the bottle throwing incident etc from them in the first leg.

Is there really a need to throw the club into trouble just to rile up a few huns?
