larsson is gone... and has been for quite some time.
obviously he would have made a difference, he was a world class player.. those sort of players change games.. but people are right... MON had good amount of money to spend..

it will be good to see what sort of budget the manager gets this summer, and to see what sort of players we can attract with our new training facilities...

Larsson would improve any team in the world, but his presence would not make defenders defend better, or midfielders boss a midfield.

lol "would you trust Strachan with £6 million". O.k. I give you Brown and Donati have cost a bomb and been * but thats the market we operate in now. The 6 million pound days are gone so you just cannot expect Suttons, Hartsons and Lennons. What do you think we can get equal quality for £3 million or less? Its alllllllll about value.

This season we where in pot 3 in the champions league same as Marin o'neil was when he was in it twice. last season pot 2, but basicly we just swaped places with benfica, so dont know what that has to do with anything.

the market is gonna explode at somepoint, and there gonna have to cap it. i was reading that man utd to renew ronaldo's contract is gonna be £140,000 a week... madness! whats it gonna be like in 2/3years time. £200,000 a week.... its gonna have to be capped..

the only thing that really kills us from getting the good players is our shity climate.. the weather...

if we had good weather, players would come... then more money would be pumped into our league.. so on so on.... thats what i think anyway lol

i think the board are a bit tighter these days too, when MON took over we needed £6 million players because we were a mess and its the only way he would have taken the job as he knew it wasn't gonna be easy and the team needed an overhaul. no the team is at a different standard, with a few tweaks here and there we should be winning. we shouldn't need to spend big money anymore. when MON took over the scum were spending big too, thats not the case anymore, they pick up bosmans

I think their are decent players out there waiting to be identified who would not cost a fortune. Maybe not world beaters but certainly decent enough to make a team out of.

If you look at an Arsenal for instance they seem to be able to find an endless supply of talent for little outlay surely a club of our size could sort out a scouting network like theirs and find similar talent.

Perhaps though it is down to coaching this talent. Maybe we already have them just not coaching them well enough.?

true about arsenal.... where are they pulling these guys from...
any talent we get we loose... name a player in recent years who has come through the ranks and became a quality player...... remember quality player so that doesnt include mcmanus.

arsenal keep pulling these africans/french players for he haw and they end up world class players.... and i reckon NOW we have better facilities..

or maybe we do try and get these players but we cant compete with the arsenals/utds or this world

I agree with you there ellboy that theres got to be middle priced top class players out there. The problem I think is most top tier teams in Europe have significant scouting networks equal to Celtics. I wouldnt cite Arsenal as they are world-class when it comes to poaching youngsters and we don't have the cash of them, ManUre or Chelsea.

Another bad point about us is the league we play in is extremely physical and of course the weather is * as starky mentioned.

Surely Hutcheson, Sno and Mizuno can be seen as major coups though. I'm trying to think throughout Europe of top-class players signing for around the 3 million mark or less that I'm jealous of not landing. Either I can't think now or there simply aren't that many....

I know that and have said so numerous times. Irregardless of the swag bag Lawell brought back from Derby with him he wasn't a more succesful signing than Naka or even guys like Naylor and Caldwell. There was an agenda behind the article.

strachan hasnt made the players worse... you cant loose your ability...

his tactics at times are questionable.. but he aint made them bad players, hes either bought bad players or not played the formation..

    caldwell as a rightback?
    caldwell as a centreback lol

Anyone else not feel this question is ridiculous?

Larsson was 1 in a million and to justify a poor season just because we didn't have someone like him is laughable.

You keep a manager for what he can bring to the team in the future, no what he has done in the past.

Hence its time to go for Strachan...

im not sure if yous seen it or not but on RTE2 on sunday theres a show called celebrity bainstoir (gaelic football manager) and one of the managers brought strachan over to give his team a teamtalk before there 'big game' and this is were my mind was made up about strachan and his future....i have never ever seen a worse team talk in all my life, there was no advice, there was no direction and last but not least there was no passion! thats what our team has been lacking this season i hate when the hoops lose but i hate it even more when we lose without a fight...and that sadly to say is down to the manager and how he manages his side! yea the players take part responsiblity but strachan is getting paid enfuff to MANAGE the team. he has got to go before he ruins the team completely
