This seems like the obvious solution.

Sheffield United are set to hold a fresh round of talks with Celtic in a bid to lure Gary Mackay-Steven to Bramall Lane.

The Star understands representatives acting on behalf of Chris Wilder’s side have already held a series of informal discussions with their counterparts in Glasgow after being alerted to the 26-year-old midfielder’s availability.

Those conversations could progress further later this week after it emerged Aberdeen, who were also monitoring Mackay-Stevens’ situation, could cool their interest.

United began the process of strengthening Wilder’s squad last month when Ched Evans, Nathan Thomas and Enda Stevens all arrived in South Yorkshire.

The League One champions, who have also kept tabs on Charlton Athletic forward Ricky Holmes and Southend captain Ryan Leonard, first identified Mackay-Stevens as a target last month.

Although United would prefer to negotiate permanent transfers, circumstances might force them to consider a loan arrangement.

Mackay-Steven’s deal is not scheduled to expire until 2019, so sources north of the border believe Parkhead’s hierarchy could initially demand between £500,000 and £750,000 for him. The £250,000 Celtic paid to sign him from Dundee United two and a half seasons ago was reduced only because he had already accepted a pre-contract agreement.

Blackburn Rovers are also keen on him.

Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes is now believed to view developing teenage winger Scott Wright as his main priority.

Capped once by Scotland, Mackay-Stevens made 10 appearances, including one against Manchester City in the Champions League, for Celtic last term.

Ched Evans pumping GMS because after a couple of drinks he thought it was a giggly girl.

3 years, huh? Hmmm, so if you're for real, you joined Celtic roughly the same time as Ronny. Interesting.

I already fired an email with a screenshot to Ronny's lawyers, mate. Don't worry, he'll be made to pay for that accusation, quite literally.

Problem is if the Moderators dont do anything then the site could be in bother.
Also, i know that Celtic PR people go on this site and this could be a wee problem for the club.

The comment has been removed as it was based completely on gossip heard, therefore completely untrue.

Sheffield United would be a good move for him, but I'd rather he stayed in Scotland. He could definitely improve any of the teams in the SPFL outside of ourselves.

I'm sure we must've gone down the route of using him as a makeweight in any potential Hayes deal. £1m plus Mackay-Steven and Ryan Christie (loan) seems like a fair enough deal.

Very poor and wild gossip accusation to fire around. Talk Celtic is here for us all to have a bit of craic and a few debates with afters sometimes. But we don't come on here to slander any employee of Celtic with idle gossip, especially since a lot of us on here know for sure that journos dip in and out for stories.:38:

The sooner GMS is off the books the better as he adds nothing to the squad

I will predict he is here at the start of next season. Just have a feeling this is one of those ones that drag on and on until deadline day and ultimately nothing happens.

I agree he doesn't have much place at Celtic and would be better to get rid of him but I don't understand all the malice against this guy. He has been a very useful player for a long time and a decent guy who gave his best always. He would be the star of any other team in the league.
