I don't see any chance of City loaning him back to us next season. As mentioned, he's integral to their homegrown quota for Europe next season. I can see them letting him go as PG will be looking at guys who will be 25m plus already playing in the CL for the likes of PSG, Monaco, Atletico and the likes. He won't get a fair crack of the whip. A few games in overseas friendlies until the big name signings (who will already be pretty much done deals with the exception of 1 or 2) are back from their summer holidays and join them for mega bucks on mega money. Paddy won't get a sniff, despite having all the attributes. It's the way England has gone which is very unfair on him and other young players there who have the ability but won't be given the chance.

The board and obviously DD have been very robust in their backing of Brendan and the financial backing they have given him with transfers and also to get Brendan himself in last summer in the first place. I'm very intrigued as to how far they'd be willing to go to get Paddy in, especially if Brendan identifies him as a main target, which I certainly think he should be.

Come through their academy for three years before age 21, for club home grown.

CELTIC are willing to pay Manchester City £500,000 to loan Manchester City star Patrick Roberts for another season.

The England Under-20 international has been a revelation in Scotland this campaign, helping Brendan Rodgers’ side to storm to the title.

And the Hoops want to take him next year for a THIRD time, but it is not known whether he is open to the idea.

City boss Pep Guardiola wants to take Roberts on their pre-season tour of America to run his eye over the 20-year-old.

An Etihad source said: “Celtic have shown an interest in taking Patrick back again and are willing to pay a big loan fee for him.

“He has been there 18-months already and has been a star. He is very highly-rated both sides of the border.


“Pep would like to take a closer look at him to see if he is ready to play for the club on a regular basis next season though.”

Roberts started his career at Fulham where he broke into the first-team and shone, making his Premier League debut against City.

He moved to the Etihad in 2015 for £12m and is regarded as one of the club’s top prospects by Guardiola.

He has scored nine times in 43 appearances for Rodgers’ men who hope to make a mark on the Champions League next season.

Would take him for another year no problem, but we still need to get someone in who's ready to take over when he goes.

 

I'll try not to get my hopes up but another year on loan would be fantastic for us.

However, it does dash the hopes of those who thought we'd break our transfer record for him.

While I would much rather we signed him outright and in general I am not a fan of loan deals. I would make an exception in this case and be happy with another full season loan deal given that would put him at having played for us for 2.5 years at that point and what an important player he is for us in the current side I feel.
