The only serious first team CBs he has bought was Caldwell and also Elvis who was a stop-gap. Total outlay-virtually nil. It would be farer to criticise WGS for not prioritising money on a couple of 3-4 million pound CBs. That would make more sense. I think WGS has tried to spread a modest kitty to rebuild the squad utterly from scratch in 2-3 years and has had problems affording or unearthing cheap quality in some areas. I wouldnt go off the deep end though-this squad is not bad and 2 or 3 additions would make a huge difference. But these need to be high quality players from the continent. The manager will need at least 10 million to spend in the summer if we want to buy a couple of CBs and a CM to make sure next year. If the board dont gamble that we will qualify for the CL again then it will be tough again next year.

ive had enough, ive backed strachan 100% since hes arrived but as soon as smith arrived we cant beat them, he doesnt have a clue tactically about the game of football, why the * was mcdonald on the bench in a must win game against rangers and hes our top goalscorer, and at the same time the referee did us no favours as usual

Why has Strachan not brung in an experienced head like Davie wier at the back to help McManus's game? McManus was the rock of our defence last year now hes slumped to medocricity(spelling).

WGS cant motivate his team his team selection is questionable and his tactics are garbage! that second half display was an imbassisment to celtic football club... I feel there is some sort of false/distorted memory/fantasy of how good both we and Rangers once were. I dont remember this great footballing Celtic team of the recent past that WGS's team is often unfavourably contrasted with. The post-Seville Celtic team under MON was the closest I ever came to stopping watching. It was a lot harder on the eye than the WGS years bar post-Xmas last year. Both WGS and MON have had similar success to date. Most of the pleasure of MON's teams was the OF games and European runs. Even when we won handsomely we were hard to watch in many SPL games under MON. So its likely 2 out of 3, a few cups and some European success at the three year mark. No difference to the MON years. I think there is some sort of reality distortion going on. We have not done better over a three year period since the lions.
