the real reason why celtic are not allowed in the epl

was gonna mention that, it got mentioned alot when fergus mc cann was here but the CL is perfect as it is, playing away in italy or spain every other week isn't really feasible, its pricy enough supporting celtic

 

Of course i want us to imrove. But at the end of the day weve been playing in scotland since 1888. We are famous for are proud years, this has left celtic one of the most famous clubs in the world. But we are scottish and i geniunly would rather play them in the champs league. thats just they i fell lads, Everyone is entitled to there own opinion

 

Precisely, it would kill footballing atmospheres all over Europe.

Although, theres alot to be said for being able to say to the mrs or kids "Bye now, I'm off to Belgium this weekend"

 

or amsterdam.

 

This guy is talking pish. You go on about how the EPL teams arent scared of us so that isn't the reason they aren't letting us in, and then you go on about us improving as a team. Could that not be the reason they are scared? We are a big enough club to succeed in the EPL with the right amount of money and they know it. If it was the other way around and the SPL was the big cheese and the EPL was pish but had two decent teams. Would we be happy about those two teams coming into the league and having a chance of dominating it like they do in their own league?

Another point being, why would we want to join the EPL? picture the scene... Celtic's 4th season in the EPL and we win it... WEEEYHEEEYYY. End of the season comes and the F.A say "oh btw, we can't let you take part in the champions league as we are not willing to give our European spot to a Scottish club"

 

If they did go down to England and had to start at the bottom . . . i can honestly say i think we'd struggle to get promoted from the championship!

We'd also lose alot of money in they years . . . we dont get a full house every wk just now like against dundee united, motherwell, teams like that so i couldn't really see us filling the stadium to play torquay or whoever, therefor a drop in season ticket prices, player wages, transfer funds . . . its a complete no hoper from me!

What a load of crap. Ok i have no love for Rangers but to quantify their supporters in that way is just balls and lies. There probably is a bad perception of gers fans throughout a lot of europe but its not because they are any worse than us.

The facts are its the same with most english fans, the real problem is more than likely ignorance by people throughout europe who cannot distinguish between english and scottish supporters. The union jack flag is carried by them all and this is what has gained the negative reputation. This has been mainly as a result of england national team hooligans.

I believe scottish supporters in general have a good reputation around the world.

Also your comment about the red hand of ulster symbol being anti catholic again is totally inaccurate. This is actually one of the few cross community symbols that is used by both prods and catholics in ireland - for example the GAA. Red tape, money and nationality are the reasons we are not in the epl, welcome back to earth.

 

I agree with that...their fans aren't at bad as the Chelsea Headhunters or whatever, even Man U and Westy Ham probably have worse fans... it just won't happen because of Uefa, Fifa and both Premier League's being against it...

 

The real reason is because smaller EPL teams won't want us in the league as it increases their chance of being relegated, which is fair enough.

 

It would be down to a vote by the member clubs of the EPL/Championship and given the money involved even for the relegated teams it would be turkeys voting for an early Christmas. I would love to get out of the SPL and so would most of the rest of the clubs but it ain't gonna happen. Maybe a European Super league is our best chance of escaping this * talentless league and compete for the serious players, prizes and money. Can't see it happening anytime soon maybe in 10 years by which time Rangers will have been made bankrupt and consigned to the football history books.
