That is a good point and it was one of Martin's chief failings, he couldn't get a good goalie, and we ended up with a fucken brickie instead :57:

Martin was too cautious too at times for his own good and it cost us dearly.
At this point in time, I would say Brendan is the best all round manager we have had since Big Jock.

Far too early to be making comparisons.

O'Neill's achievements at Celtic always been exaggerated. Early days but Rodgers going unbeaten domestically this far is bigger than anything O'Neill achieved. My worry is keeping Brendan, we can't compete with clubs like Palace and them in case they start sniffing around.

Stupid question, same with most manger comparisons, different teams, different budgets, different challenges.

    * it I'm bumping this.

Not saying we've done better under Brendan but comparing resources and watching the type of football we play under both managers... I think there's a genuine argument on the subject.

Can only make that assessment once Brendan leaves.

I hope Brendan does five years like Martin did.

If he does, he'll surely walk away having won 10IAR and that will be an immortal achievement.

I have a feeling we're going to do something special in Europe too. Genuinely think we could go far in the EL.

I mentioned in the PR thread that this is the happiest i've felt as a supporter since MON was in charge, i look forward to every game, love the football we play, the composure we can show when under pressure.

Brendan hasn't just made certain players better, he has installed a belief and a mentality in the squad, we are relentless and ruthless, last season was incredible, canny wait to see what unfolds over the coming months.

It's hard to compare but this era does have a MON feel to it in terms of buzz and quality.

It's not fair to compare the managers themselves at this stage though.

Brendans chapter has a long way to go(hopefully) before it's finished, maybe then we can make an accurate or more measured comparison between himself and MON, so far soooooo good ! :84:

It's brilliant reading Huns saying that Brendan hasn't put a foot wrong and they can't wait until an EPL team snaps him up.

    * you ya rat *. He's here for at least 10

    An impossible question to answer.

Could Martin O'Neill take the current squad and win an Invincible Treble? Highly debatable.
Could Brendan Rodgers take the 2003 squad to a European final? Highly debatable.

O'Neill had better players to work with but he also had tougher opposition in front of him. It's just impossible to make a straight up comparison.

If someone had a gun to my head and told me I had to pick one or the other I would still go for Martin O'Neill. Being completely truthful, I don't think Brendan will ever take us to a European final so in order to put himself above Saint Martin he's going to have to stay here and finish the 10IAR project. If he does that then he may surpass MON in a lot of people's eyes.

Difficult to make comparisons in regards to squads/eras.

I do however think Rodgers will prove himself to be the better coach/manager in time though, scary to think he is actually only 43 years old. Already had a bigger job than O'Neill ever has in England with Liverpool, as well as managing here playing a brilliant style of football.

Still Martin, this squad and Brendan has a good bit to go yet to be on a level with those Bhoys.

Domestically it will be tough to compare since we've absolutely no challenge now in comparison to MONs time.
And in Europe It's gotten much much harder now for a team like us to do well in comparison to his time.

Due to the length of time Brendan has been here, we can only compare their first seasons at this point, so Brendan wins. :84:

Brendan is obviously the better coach, there's no question of that but in terms of who's been better for us there's obviously still a long way to go for Brendan. I think Europe is where Brendan still needs to somewhat prove himself. If we can stay in Europe beyond christmas then he'll be well on his way.

Wow. Can't imagine Brendan having a record like that after as many games tbh. The opposition is weaker at the moment as well imo
