Twice St Johnstone have given it a good go but after we equalised it was full steam ahead.

Hendersons goal was a great finish. Good on the lad. Last goal was just spectacular.

That fifth goal is unbelievable. The very begining of the move the passing is a bit sloppy looking but after those first few passes it's just incredible.

Radio Scotland discussing refs today. Charlie Richmond and Scott McDonald contributing their input. Apparently the decision was a game changer and Tommy Wright claimed it "Thomson was dying to give Celtic a penalty". He obviously hasn't seen any of our other games he's officiated.

Richmond claimed Wright would be unhappy because they had two penalty claims turned down. I assume one was the Swanson Swan dive in the box. The other never made the highlights I watched.

Was it really a game changer?? 67% possession and 17 shots on goal from a team unbeaten?? I would suggest to Mr Wright that the game changer wasn't the penalty.

The standard of officiating has been poor for months on end. Yet no such scepticism of the men in black has been forthcoming.

Totally agree with the last post. Was Tommy Wright just about to bring on Messi and Ronaldo had the penalty not been given? Were St Johnstone just about to lift it up a couple of gears to win the match?

They didn't even score their own second goal for crying out loud.

That 5th goal was sublime as if Lustigs rabona wasnt enough mcgregors shuffle and back heel for Dembele's shot was excellent.

Thought Boyata unfairly got too much stick last night too. Our defence was not at its best as a unit last night and the midfield was not offering them enough protection.

Henderson was brilliant, mcgregor who replaced him was also very good. GMS was dissapointing

    As someone highlighted earlier

    STATS

St Johnstone shots on target - 1
    St Johnstone goals - 2

But the penalty was the turning point :s:

The penalty was undoubtedly a turning point.

We could have still went on and won the game but it was a massive turning point in the game.

I think we would have won the game. St Johnstone would have got a massive lift from it sure, but I think we had that last 45 minutes in us regardless. This team doesn't know when it's beat.

That 5th goal should be salivated over for weeks to come.

Edit. From the media I mean, I'll be worshiping it for years.

I don't doubt that we had it in us, just that it was a huge turning point in the game.

Anyway, "these things even themselves out over the season".

Funnily enough, I've not heard that mentioned in any media discussion with regards to our game yesterday.

Exactly. We had really upped the gears and some key players were getting into the game more, our shape was far more structured when Dembele came on, but it doesn't change how pivotal that decision was.
To put it another way, if we were playing a major side in the champions league and were 2-1 up and were panicking as they brought a key player off the bench, how would we have seen a decision like that?
How would we even have felt if Brown's challenge on Swanson was deemed a foul and it cost us our run?
I can fully understand why they are annoyed and why they highlight it as a turning point.

    Cant stop watching it.

That is right up there with my favourite goals ever. Absolutely superb football, the way it should be played.

I cannot understand how any Celtic fan claiming that we didn't deserve a penalty , doesn't also mention that the St Johnstone first goal should not have stood as the Saints player definitely pushed down on Bitton . Both were stone wall obvious decisions that Thomson got wrong .

I am not sure we are that bad defending crosses, our weaknesses are allowing so many crosses into our area.
For Saints second goal only WMS was out on wing , Lustig was in no man's area in at the goals . Over this season while we want our defence to improve , we have to be satisfied as over-all our defence has been good
