I'm always saying how great a captain and as far as I'm concerned a legend Tom Boyd is, said it a few times on here. I think everyone is likely sick of me saying it but ffs Tom Boyd captained the side that stopped 10 in a row, never gets enough credit in my opinion, one of my all time favourite Celts.

This image is up there with Caeser with the European cup, the centenary squad photo at Hampden after the Scottish cup win, Martin O'Neill with the Treble at paradise. Forever burned into my minds eye. Love Tom Boyd, right I'll shut up now :giggle1:

Yes. Brown has been an amazing leader in these modern times. Great at winding up the Sevconians as well.

If Broonie came up to me & screamed 'Do your * job' as captains have to do occasionally, I reckon once I'd changed my underpants, I don't think I'd * up again! He's superb.

this is a very good point. broony is enjoying a dominate time with celtic at the moment, but we'll see how good a captain he really is, if celtic hit a substained bad patch and we're struggling to get points from mid table teams. only then can you compare him to past captains, who were under the cosh for large parts of there celtic captaincy.

Broony has brought in great fight and leadership for Celtic over the years, now he is also improving his understanding of the game and controlling the big matches like in the CL and cup finals.

Big call though to say he is the best since Cesar, you've got McGrain, McStay and Boyd to name a few who you could class up there.

In my lifetime....Aitken would be my personal choice as the best leader and Captain for the way he drove the team to Centenary season double in the face of an onslaught from the newly cash rich and seemingly unstoppable Rangers side packed full of English Internationals.

Stood right up to those * yesterday, * loved it.

The biggest roar in my house yesterday was when he jumped on the advertising boards and just stood there, straightening out his Celtic top.

I'd have to say that all things considered that I tend to agree with the OP. Brown has been a very good player for us, has enjoyed tremendous success. The only player with similar Captains abilities of sheer will to win, aggression, inspiration, etc was Aitken.

There are better players who have been captain, but not better Captains. Brown shades it over Aitken imo
