i dont know about any of you, but im a great believer that we always have and always have the best youth set up in the country, however there is far too many of our young players not being given a chance, im not saying that we should be binning everyon in order to have a team of under 19s what i am saying is that we have some real talent in the reserves and under 19s and we can bring them through without upsetting the balance of the team, maybe one youngster every year while keeping the team as consistent as we can,

look at the players we have at our disposal today, all products of our youth set up, mcgeady, mcmanus, odea, caddis, and im more than sure that when they get there chance, mcgovern, cuthbert, mcglinchy, and quinn will be more than up to the job, we have to remember the teams of old before money and foriegners were the way of things, wee jinky, ceasar, they might never have been had there been a lot of money made availiable for experienced foriegners, look what ajax did with there kids, every big team in the world has products of there youth through the team, cassillas and raul at real, maldini, baresi etc at milan

surely we should be making the most of our youths instaed of letting them slip through the net and other teams benefit, given at newcastle being the number 1 example

The fact 2nd rate players have been BOUGHT in is damaging to the club.
Cuthbert for example is a great prospect and has far more ability and potential than Gary Caldwell has eer had, just as Caddis makes you wonder why we now need Wilson.

    my sentiments exactly chucky

why do we feel the need to bring in other teams players that arent good enough in the first place, i for one would sooner have a young player come through the system than go out and spend a million on a player thats just as good, it doesnt make sense

To be fair the chances of us bringing in more youth players to the first team are higher than ever, according to Peter Lawwell and Gordon Strachan. And the chances are only going to improve with the opening of our youth academy last year. I honestly can see a better standard of born and bred Scottish talent coming through in the next decade or 2, and not just from our club.

All these so called Hibs stars we've bought is a prime example of Strachan swallowing nothing more than hype as far as i'm concerned.
Riordan, Caldwell, Killen and Brown. What success did they have playing together at Hibs? (a diddy cup) they were * all losers in the bigger picture FFS.

Its easy to wear a Hibs strip and that lot have found out you need to be bigger and better to wear the Hoops.:50:
Even "the next big thing" Scott Brown has toiled to make his mark regularly.

I think we've already got quite a few promising laddies at the club but Strachan like MON before him is affraid of the glory hunters within our support to blood them and bring them on.
He only uses them in an emergency which is sad.

If you want to win leagues your not going to start breeding youth. The only guy that has come through our system that is genuine class is McGeady the rest are no more than squad/spl players and i include Maloney and McManus in that.

Maloney a squad player? Come on get real mate:56:
McManus and O'Dea have what it takes but both need an experienced player like Elliot or the Terminator beside them to bring him on to their full potential.
Thats why Mick and Darren always looks better when Bobo plays beside them.
Mick isnt captain material yet because he needs to focus on his own game rather than the others.
Give Artur the armband as he has the right mentality.

What has Maloney done other than have 1 good season when there were no other stand out performers from both sides of the Old Firm?

I have my own view on Mick but i won't air it as i believe we should get behind the team just now rather than destroy it piece by piece.

You think airing your opinion on Mick will destroy the team piece by piece by posting on a website?
You have a higher opinion of your opinion than mybe you should mate. :86:

do you honestly think strachans gonna come on to this board and say "Thats it! Hammer thinks Micks *". I better no tell Mick or the rest o the lads or it could ruin their season.

Mybe if you and others were bawling stuff at Mick constantly at the games it just may have an adverse affect, but on a Web site?
    Get rea matel:84:

Ah! So you think the tabloids see your possible opinion as probarbly being the catalist that will bring down n the spirit at CP.
You do have a high opinion of your opinions mate.

Do you honestly think that posting any complaints or concerns about the team or players on here will supply the gutter press with headline material?:84:

One question? Why do you give a * what that scum think in the 1st place. The * have wrote * about us long before the internet was invented:50:

And why is my patter pish?:86:

A high opinion of my opinions? You should maybe start writing for the tabloids with that level of superior sentence structure and use of the written word.

What i was getting at was the fact i refuse to air the fact i think our captain isn't good enough to be a first pick never mind the leader, not just on a website but when i follow Celtic from Parkhead to the Camp Nou and every ground in between. I don't alter tact through the medium i'm faced with at any particular juncture, my views are steadfast and consistent. Could the same be said for yourself our day will come?

We all know that there is no doubt that Celtic have the best youth system in the country. Yet we shouldn't, overcrowd the first team with eager youngsters. We should keep them in the reserves and groom them until they are mature and good enough to wear the jersey. We waited until McGeady and Maloney were about 20 until they were allowed to break into the first team. Although I think we should play the better and older reserve players in pre-season frendlies and in all of the CIS Cup games. I don;t rate the CIS Cup and like Arsenal I think that we should give our reserves games against SPL standard clubs.

In my experience on these boards when one starts using grammar or spelling to have a go at another poster it usualy means their opinion is screwed:icon_mrgreen:
