When we brought Stu in many saw him as the long term successor to Brown but last season many questioned him, now we're once against having those discussions about him which is nice to see.

Stu should serve as a reminder not to give up on certain players just because they're not having a great time, far better players have struggled at times and have come through the other side of tough times a better player. Forrest is also a good example, his Celtic career was practically over going by all the comments on here even back in July/August and he managed to keep Roberts out of the team for a period and at the very least remains in and around the starting 11.

I'm always really pleased when players prove a lot of people (myself included) wrong. Same with Gordon the last 3 months or so.

Starting to really develop now . All action midfielder who is becoming a real creator/goal threat on the final third .

    Hopefully.

Just love watching the two of them in midfield right now. They complement each other so well.

Biggest thing is you can tell Broony * appreciates and trusts him. Not so much with any other midfielder, he * babysits Bitton positionally.

Aye. Must be great for Brown having someone who works hard next to him and helps out with chasing players down.

The two of them with a hard working defensive midfielder in behind is exactly what's needed in European matches.

What Rodgers has done with Armstrong remind me of what he done with Henderson at Liverpool. I'm still in pure disbelief that we've actually got a * superb manager :56:

Too right. Not only is he a top class manager, he's a tim as well.

    A truly beautiful human being.

Amazing how he transformed Henderson at Liverpool. I really hope Armstrong keeps this up and is the successor to Brown that we all want him to be like @Bálor said.

He's an absolute carrot. I really saw something in him and stuck up for him and the * didn't show much, finally this spring I give in and admit that I was wrong and he isn't good enough for Celtic and he goes and does this.

BRENDAN Rodgers made five changes to his starting XI for Saturday’s game against Dundee as he utilised his squad in the midst of a heavy schedule of nine games in December.

One of those changes was forced upon him, with Scott Brown serving a one-game suspension after picking up six yellow cards. Taking the captain’s armband for the game and leading the team to a 2-1 win which re-established the Hoops’ 11-point lead at the top of the table was Stuart Armstrong.

The midfielder has been in outstanding form since pushing his way back into the team, and his manager praised his attitude, application and ability, explaining that giving him the captaincy was an acknowledgement of those qualities.

“It was a symbol for him and the other players,” the Celtic boss explained after the victory over Dundee. “This was a guy who was one of the real stand-out players when I was assessing the squad.

“He came back in and was probably in doubt if he was going to play for me. Early in the season, if you think back, he wasn’t even in a couple of my squads.

“But guys like him epitomise really how I work and if they can adapt to how I want to work and the concepts, then they can fly. The same with guys like Craig Gordon – they understand how we want to work and they’re prepared to work, and they get their reward.

“And Stu has been a great symbol of that. You look at him now. He’s outstanding in everything he does - his pressing first and foremost, his positioning and now his quality on the ball. He plays with that pause in the game that I like.

“As a midfield player, you need to be able to put your foot on the ball and make the right choices and make the right passes, but he’s also got that dynamic to break forward, so he’s a great symbol of what spirit and what learning and coaching is about.”

Petrov was a great example of not writing a player off too early.

He has come such a long way in a few short months. Fantastic to see. Could do a bit of damage on New years day.
