We went out last night and tried to win the game ,we didnt stand around admiring them we put in tackles and tried to play when we had the ball. the most pleasing thing for me was we didn't go into pass the buck mode like we did under deila players got their heads up and seemed to realize the onus was on them to make something happen .it wasn't just one or two players it happened all over the pitch going forward sure we need to strengthen midfield but the attitude of the players at present can't be faulted

yeah i agree some good chances they did fall to him and it is annoying but there is talent there and i think we are all aware of that but also at the same time the patience is wearing thin with us

It seems to me that a number of our players (also scottish based players) don't have belief that they can do it at the top level, like they are limited by their own minds, he gets himself in these positions so thats a given in for him, he has to work on knowing that accepting that and applying the finish instead letting his mind blow up, the difference between knowing your good and accepting your good

think theres a top player in macgreggor but he has to believe in himself we cant keep allowing him to * up when he gets these big opportunities, he was poor tonight

I don't think I'm biased at all. I'm the first to praise Barcelona as footballers. I'm never done on here saying Busquets is the best I've ever seen in his position.

I have also given incredible stick to the likes of Johansen over the years for kicking people off the ball, while I don't tolerate diving from our players at all.

McGregor just doesn't have the composure, same as the Gladbach game with his last minute chance. It's more about if players can deal with that level mentally and have the confidence in their own ability. If Rogic had the pace and energy of Armstrong we'd have a world class attacking mid, that's what we were missing last night since he burned himself out after 20 mins and couldn't really influence the game like he has before.

It was all a learning experience anyway, it wasn't a case of defending like * and playing on counter it's trying to get the players to be brave on the ball and play good football with high aggressive pressing. Always going to take time for players get used to it.

In Europe is where he needs to get his experience though, against the higher quality opposition on the big stage, he proved he has the ability against City its just about being consistent now and getting the important goals.
Bitton for me is a lost cause but the way Brendan put his arm round him after the game shows he has faith in him, could be wrong but I stuck by him from the start but now just doesn't look interested.

I think we looked far more composed on the ball than in 2012. Not downhearted one bit. They're obviously an incredible side.

I think McGregor just lacks the heart and courage to stand up in these games. Think he has good ability.

Brown goes into these games believing he should be there. McGregor doesn't seem to.

Sadly, that's how football is done these days and, in part, a reason for the domination of spanish teams in Europe.
Barca's actually not that bad, if you compare them to teams like Atletico or Sevilla.

We(Gladbach) had "the privilege" to play Sevilla four times the last three years and it just leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth everytime.
They use every tactical/hidden/what not foul in the book on defense, but will dive, fall and always ask for a card everytime there is our could've been a fould against them.

Because of that they'll never allow you to get into your game/stop the flow of the game and will also put you under pressure on defense, as a couple of guys will be booked and need to take a step back.

Anyways, I think you're on the right track and should try to support Rodgers(especially the club financially) so he can keep on building something.
You got two points from five games and the only time you didn't look at least decent was at Barcelona against a team that is regarded as one(if not the) best in world football. And part of that beating was Barca lost the game before and were in need of proving a point.

What do you think Brendan was saying to Forrest and Roberts when he put McGregor on after playing him at left back the game before? What was he saying to McGregor?

Yeah as I said players need to have confidence in themselves and own ability to play at CL level, if they don't then they've already lost the battle before going onto the pitch.

It's definitely a mentality Rodgers is trying to instil in the whole squad.

Must be the highest possession rate we've had against them in recent years? Thought we played a blinder.

Genuinely didn't seem like a Barca game. We weren't ever really pinned back in our own half which is usually the case for like 80% of a game against them.

Hope Neymar gets sent to prison and ends up having his knee caps stabbed and shanked in the throat by a Real Madrid fan.

Sitting watching this again. I think our biggest mistake was starting McGregor. Just doesn't have the quality at this level.

I thought it was excellent last night. Realistically, there is no way celtic will ever close the gap on europes elite clubs. The best we can hope for is for the team to do their best and get a bit of luck in one off games.

I read something earlier about spending power in football and hows celtics average player salary is 6 times that of aberdeens, and Barcelonas is 8 times that of Celtics. That is always going to be the problem that celtic has.

Oh dear, that sounds terrible and you keep getting them too :56: I was wondering how Sevilla kept managing to win the Europa League so often. Are they conning the referee and disrupting the game so much it works to their advantage when so many free kicks are taken in a short space of time? Plus having your defenders on yellow cards is an advantage. Haha poor Bundesliga club trying to play the game fairly :notworthy The thing I would hate is if every team decided to play that way and it became a fight to the weakest. We need stronger referees. Those guys who stand behind the goals have to start doing something influential, they have a great view of the most important part of the pitch, the goal.

I already said video evidence but I believe it has to happen to make things fair at the highest level. Then players will stop diving if it comes up in the replay and they get booked.

Hopefully we will support Brendan when it comes to money and wage bill. We know we can't afford top stars but we want to be able to afford semi stars. Then we'll be able to compete with BMG level teams.

You must have been glad when you knew you were playing us and we don't dive :98: You have great quality players though so we weren't so pleased to meet you. Barcelona, Man City, BMG :39: :83: :88: Bundesliga? No no no we want Flamurtari Vlore
Next season I hope you get a better draw. Real Madrid, Liverpool BVB, Shakhtar Donetsk, we will meet you again in the last 16 :84:

Sutty mentioned this during commentary, must say i agree, he's a decent squad player but i think Brendan got it wrong by giving him a start.

Having said that if he scored when given the opportunity then Brendan would be hailed a genius and McGregor would be getting all the plaudits lol.
