Read his book ( Petrov 's) and you will see what an dreadful time he had when he arrived at Celtic.

    * pay, no friends, no translator, training then in his apartment for the WHOLE day, can't afford the bills, breaking down, packed his bags and went to the airport before being stopped, THEN broke his leg. Easy street really.

stan was never instrumental in them big games....never scored in them big games, just ran himself into the ground...sweated like a dog.....doesnt mean he was effective..he was a hard worker....he has been found out for what a mediocre player he is down south.......thompson was more instrumental in them home european games. stan was always good in old firm games to be fair....

Ran himself into the ground against teams like Juve and Bayern. Enough said.

You can see by the way he treats his oponents that he believes he is above them. Also the press have bumed him up to almost a ridiculous level. To me everything has come far to easily to him and he has hardly had to work for his reputation. This cant be good for a youg guys head especialy one that is as arogant as his.

I am not sure that brown looks a better player than Stan at the same age but hey I guess its all about opinion.

I wouldn't say he failed to produce in big games. In European games his experience was vital at times and he also scored a few against Rangers. He had a different roll to Brown. Maybe if Brown had 2 of Lennon, Lambert or Thompson beside him he would also get in the opponents box more.

He can't affect what the press write about him. We are talking about a young player who has went from a pressure free environment at Hibs to the pressure cooker of Celtic, plus regular European games, plus Internationals all within a year. He must have played as many games or more than just about every other player in Scotland in the past year.

The expectations heaped on him are ridiculous. It's pretty sad that people are only too happy to jump on him after a mistake tonight.

its not about him looking better at 21. its about either having a 21 year old kid who cost a fortune or a 28 year old midfielder who is a far better player.

we dont have time to wait for brown to fufill his potential. we need a player who can perform now.

the more i see brown the more and more i think we wasted a lot of money

So it was ok to wait for Petrov to prove himself, but not Brown?

This is not 1 mistake gd. He has shown me nothing all season to suggest he will be a great midfielder. He hasnt, he might be but he hasnt shown it in the hoops. We are Celtic not Hibs, we need a great midfielder. He might have been affected by the hype, the club etc.. that doesnt mean we should start him week in and week out when he is so flaky.

1 great run in a game to setup a goal and hes the next celtic legend. So its both ways.

    different time mate.

we were a different team back then. we had top quality players around petrov some of whom cost 6m+ lenny, sutton, hartson, thommo and lambert and also had the king of kings. petrov wasnt our BIG money signing and he wasnt the main player we looked too to be our driving force of the team.

Brown was signed at a time when we dont spend a lot of money, therefore spending that amount of money should have went on a top quality player, someone who could dominate games and be a leader on the pitch not on a kid with potential.

He's shown me plenty this season to suggest there is more to come. People can take this opportunity to stick the knife in but I think he's had a good season so far.

He misses Hartley alongside him. I thought he played ok tonight, but I've seen cardboard cut-outs more mobile than Donati which means that Brown has to cover a lot more ground to compensate.

Petrov. Very harsh to call just now. Stan was poor to begin with but came good. Brown will be good,he's only 21. What needs to happen is that he is rested for a couple of games to recharge those Hibs batteries. The problem is that with most big money signings they are expected to play ALL the time, that's whats happening to Brown.

To be honest Doc I didnt even know that he made a mistake tonight.

I also agree with you that he cant affect what the press write about him,However he can have an affect if he allows these stories to turn his head.

Look it is just an opinion that to me -Brown will not succeed as a CM player at Celtic(I hope he proves me entirely wrong) as to me he is just a hard working combative midfield player with little class with the ball at his feet and is also not great at destroyind the play. I know he is a young guy and if his attitude is write then he will improve over time. It just seems to me that his improvement would need to be exceptional if he is going to be good enough to be a long term soloution for us.

Also at 4.4 million is alot of money to gamble on potential and you would think he would be showing signs of quality or improvement in his games currently.Again just my opinion but he seems to be treading water in terms of his improvement.

P:S Hatley beside him for the one game at Pitordrie did see an improved performance. So I tend to agree with Doc on this. However Aberdeen were * this also could have been a good reason to why Brown amongst others looked good that day.

Ive been for over a month on Browns case, so its not me. A few plays showing potential is nice... but there is not one match this season where he has shown potential for greatness over an entire game.

Brown i believe has just shown some good runs some times and great determination most of the time.
I believe he can approve but its up to him work hard to do, just look at mcgeady the change 1 year has done to him.

Just as he can't affect the press, neither could he affect the price that Hibs demanded for him.

He is 21 ffs and has only been with Celtic for 7 months. Far too early to write him off. Have a bit of faith in the lad.
