    Re: Bhoys bid for telfer

telfers a funny signing, GS had him at coventry too if im right. hes lookin for cover for lenny and he may well fit the bill. hes a premiership veteran, wonder what we offered? hes looking basically at the minute to improve the size of the squad, filling up the numbers i suppose with all respect to robinson. but i guess if GS is gonna rotate this season it may not be a bad thing playing these guys against the weaker sides in the league, as opposed to MON playing his eleven to the maximum throughout the season, could put us in good stead in Europe.

I don't see how GS can rotate this current team, MON had a * bench for the last 2 seasons if you look at the squad now it's much weaker than last season.

    Re: Bhoys bid for telfer

good point, but if you look at MON last season he wasnt prepared to change his side and it got to the stage that those players on the bench were starved of match practice and when they did participate they didnt perform. I cant see any other reason as to why GS would want the players as mentioned. i think that if there is regular rotation with these "weaker" players playing they could beat the likes of well, dons, dundee utd at home. im not talking wholesale changes to the line-up, just a couple of replacements here and there. the lack of resources in defence is quite a worry now.

on www.saintsfc.co.uk its says that celtic are fast running out of time. THANK * PAUL TELFER IS AN OLD AGE PENSIONER! whot happened 2 bringing in youth eh? We shld get in Juanfran from besitkas to challenge Mo at left back. Hes amense. And bring in either Mark Wilson or someone else mabye a foreginer. I actually think Telfer isnt bad but hes a poor-mans Tom Boyd and has only ONE cap wif Scotland and would cost 250,000.surley we cld find a younger, better right back than him

    Re: Bhoys bid for telfer

yeh ano telfer can play right mid...but is slower than John Hartson in a 50metre sprint. but he is going to be offered a short-term deal for RIGHT BACK. face it lads telfer will be an OK signing but not gd enuff for Celtic fuksake even if its despreate we can do MUCH betta than him. Telfer hasnt scored a goal in 3yrs.

    Telfer Deal Almost Done!

Paul Telfer has signed a two-year deal with Scottish giants Celtic.

Manager Gordon Strachan revealed the versatile campaigner has put pen-to-paper following The Bhoys' 2-2 draw with Sporting.

Strachan has been impressed with Craig Beattie's efforts at right back, but is now pleased to have Telfer at his disposal.

"He has come up here and he has signed but it's just a case of getting the forms through," explained Strachan.

"Craig Beattie played there at right-back and he gave it his best shot going forward but defensively it was a bit of a problem at times.

"He is a smashing player and we need to work with him but we have not had that time since Gary Irvine got injured so that area has been a bit of a problem.

"But if Paul Telfer had a fitness test then I would guarantee that he will win it.

"The guy has been playing a long time and we have tried to bring in young players but they cost money and like Adam [Virgo] he brings many options.

"They can play in many positions and that's what we need. This is a small squad and we need more quality but those players can play in various positions. "If everything goes to plan tonight then he will be signed in time to play in midweek."

It's not that difficult mate to read other threads before you post - it does make it easier all round to have a smaller number of more detailed threads than loads all saying the same thing
