Difficult, between Jackie Mac and Didier, went for Agathe though, probably one of those where you look back on his time with tinted specs because we've had nothing quite like him since. Maybe Janko could get there with his pace and strength.

Has to be Agathe. McNamara was obviously a decent player too, but he did act the * over the whole contract thing when he left, so I struggle to forgive that.

How can you forget his strike in the replay against the dead mob, he aimed straight for Glesga Cross and * it in aff Papac's nut :icon_mrgreen:

Definitely wouldn't call him a full back, always sat too far forward, I'd say at a push he was a wing back but mostly a winger. He was played primarily because of his attacking skills. Got to remember that we don't do a lot of defending domestically, certainly not back in the MON days so yeah I'd probably say a winger.

    I loved Andy Hinkel.

One of those that fell in love with the club, too. Very solid player and were it not for injuries he'd have played long into Lennon's time here.

From 2003-2005 he was a full-back though when we played 4-4-2 before then he played more further forward.

He wanted a significant wage rise to match the high earners purely because he was captain at the time. I recall his agent specifically stating that. And he wasn't exactly in the same league as our top players back then. Being captain of Celtic should be an honour, not a ticket to earning some more cash.

But yeah I accept he was a decent enough player :)

He still played forward in a 4-4-2 :smiley-laughing002: Like I said he was played for his attacking skills, I just wouldn't call him a defender, especially compared to a proper right back like McNamara and the others mentioned

Why did you not include Danny McGrain? The best of all?

Agathe is one of my favourite Celtic players ever.

For some reason I liked him almost as much as Henrik and Lubo in the MON days.

Excellent player and also a bit of a shame seeing Matthews on that list. For a spell Lustig and Matthews were both genuinely two of Europe's best RBs (top 10 i'd say easily), and we had them both :54:

I think saying Matthews was in the best 10 right backs in Europe is a bit of an exaggeration.

Lustig is probably not a million miles off at his absolute best.

To be fair his best game ever was at left back. But he held his own on the right against teams like Athletico & AC Milan (was brilliant in the San Siro when we lost to late Balotelli goals).

When we reached the last 16 under Lenny Lustig was on fire, was defo one of the best performing right backs in Europe that season.
Sadly neither of them were able to keep it up consistently and got injured too often. Hopefully Lustig gets back to RB, and back to his best soon.

Surely everyone would just pick McGrain then? :97::smiley-laughing002:

For some reason I always think of agathe as an attacking right winger given how fast he flew down the wing.

Has to be jackie for me, king of the scissor tackle

Loved Andy Hinkel. Feel that the guy was severely underrated.
