    Well that was grim, overall. We had our moments, especially in the second half, subs did well before it all went downhill again for the most part.

    Again attacking we look promising until it breaks down with a poor touch. Defensively shaky and in midfield weak. Overall not too bad, but once we brought on the second team, the game went flat.

    I really hope you are both right. I am no football guru, am an armchair fan and don't think I know it all, by any stretch.

    But. I have watched football for 25 years or so and I think I can tell a player when I see one.

    It's a marriage of physical attributes, awareness, intelligence and desire. If you're really lucky a bit of genuine magic.

    In my very, very brief look at Dembele, I can see very little. He has managed to bundle his way by people a few times, but his head is always down, his shooting is feeble, his touch is very poor 50-60% of the time and lastly that attitude shown on the bench last week, is 100% NOT what you want.

    If he kicks on, I'll be over the moon. I just fear he is going to be another failed "project". Can we not spend a little bit of money once and just take the gamble on a bit of quality?

    Change either bitton or brown for mcgregor and I would agree.

    Ciftci not a fan of but he seems to have done enough to suggest giving him a chance before dembele this season

    Well I think we held our own to a large degree. I had forgotten all about Fisher :56: Poor Effe got a feeling rather than profit he's going to cost us millions :smiley-laughing002: Love Paddy Roberts and he wouldn't look out of place in that Barca team. All in all some decent passing and a few attempts at scoring against the best team in the world we didn't disgrace ourselves and the fans were magnificent.

    Happy enough with that. That defence will not be our defence during the season and we played well in spells..

    Roberts was excellent
    Broony
    Bitton
    O'Connell were all good first half

    Rogic was superb
    Allan
    Ciftci to an extent as well all second..

    Didn't mind that at all..

    Barca good at keeping the ball always working in a group where a lot of the time we have too much space between players plus it helps if you can pass the ball to your own players over 5yards a lot off work to be done on the training ground.

    Many have said, including me, that it is only pre-season...but fit or unfit...you can STILL tell how a player plays. What he is all about.

    Yes ye can get sharper with fitness and regular games, but at the same time, you don't just completely lose the ability to control a football, get a shot on target or read the game after the summer break.

    Dembele's vision, decision-making and attitude has all been pretty poor so far.
