I would expect Rodgers to have us Playing a lot better without any signings .getting rid of a few strikers would lead me to believe we will be strengthening that position though I haven't heard of this supposed promise of money and expect the same type of players we have been signing .the player wage cap should be increased if not scrapped altogether as it is holding us back a terrible manager will only highlight this failing whereas a good manager can cover it up

 

Squad assessment first I think. I think three quality signings and we will look great. A striker, centre half and a proper left winger.

 

They were only a credible threat if you listened to the media, or thought the league finishes at christmas.

Not concerned at all. Step one is for us to get rid of a whole heap of deadwood and we're in the process of doing that now. Step two is for Rodgers to assess the squad and find out what he needs to shape the team, imo that's a few quality additions in key areas and another striker who can hopefully challenge or play alongside Griffiths. I'm sure he has players/positons in mind but we have a number of players who he'll need to assess first hand. With the exception of Griffiths and Tierney, last season was a poor one for so many players who have previously served us very well. We need to see how many of them still have the ability and desire to be here before we know exactly what we need to bring in.

 

I would like them to extend Roberts loan period if we don't actually buy him.

 

He will want to assess the squad and see want is there to build a team. It will most likely be evolution rather than revolution.

Rodgers will have had targets in mind, and the club will have identified targets over the last year, too. Plus, Rodgers still needs to really assess who he likes, who he's not so keen on and therefore where he needs to strengthen.

Once he decides where he needs to strengthen, he needs to work on the list of targets he and the club come up with and go from there.

I think a lot of our business will hinge upon who leaves, too. Also, some of our deals may have to wait until we know whether we are playing in the Champions League or the Europa League.

We don't need new players to get through the first round of qualifying, so we can afford to leave it an extra couple of weeks. I'd expect to see one or two ahead of the more difficult qualifiers, and then one or two more after we know which competition we are playing in.

First we need to let him meet the team and see who he wants to keep and out of the whole squad I think maybe 8 are guaranteed to keep there job. Who he doesn't want will leave allowing us to sign a few players and have some youths promoted aswell (Aitchison etc.).

 

I've already been resigned to seeing Ryan Jack lift the trophy come next May.

 

How do we know he isn't happy with the majority of the squad and thinks there doesn't need to be overly much changes?

I mean that's not a bad team to start with for Brendan. I'm not worried at all I'm sure he'll bring in a few in the coming weeks. Obviously we'll definitely have to get a couple of strikers and few others in but other than that we've got quite a number of players for the other positions.

 

I've seen enough activity (clearing out of strikers) to suggest that we must have identified potential replacements / if not already got something lined up. Big gamble to take letting them go without already having something lined up?
