Serious, not cheeky question - Why? Is it the fact that there 99/100 bullshit or something else I'm not aware of? :icon_mrgreen:

Does Rodgers not like play way Ronny did. One up front and more attacking football than defensive football. We need coach to sort defensive side off our team.
Am not sure Rodgers will do the.

Does anyone have a link to this full video! I have lots of time today and would like to reminisce ahead of Brendan signing up to help us continue our March to 10IAR and finally become decent again in Europe.

Incidentally I think it's out of courtesy that we have interviewed the other candidates... Rodgers is the absolute best possible appointment we could make bearing in mind the place the club is in right now. He can come here and build a dynasty and leave us for a no doubt top other job in GOOD shape, rather than Ronny who left us worse than before he got here.

I will actually celebrate like we won a European cup if Rodgers signs on the dotted line, I swear.

Big difference is he isnt totally rigid to the 4-2-3-1. He normally rotated between 2 strikers, a striker supported by forward wingers, or a defensive minded midfield with 2 up top. He's the perfect package for Celtic in terms of domestic and European strategy.

I remember when we signed Ronny, the hopes were that he would turn out to lbe like Rodgers (who had just finished 2nd at the time). I think he would be a fantastic appointment, my first choice by far

On the face of it there's a definite argument. I remember feeling far more excited about O'Neill though as he was on an upward curve at Leicester. Plus the 'war chest' he was promised into the bargain at the time.

It would be a huge appointment though, no doubt about it. It would also fall right in line with the Board not really trying to push ahead with no Huns. The second they're back in the big League we are going after a top Manager :56:

suppose at the end of the day a lot will depend on who he gets rid of and who he brings in - how much money will he get to sign new players? BR will struggle to get us into the CL with the current squad IMO.
Need new players in defence, midfield and upfront; yes the current crop can win the title next year but hand on heart theres only a handful that are good enough for Europe and Griffiths needs help up front, cant pin our hopes on him alone and expect him to bag 40 again next season

He has worked under Mourinho after being asked by him to join Chelsea, got Swansea into the EPL and lay the foundations for them to remain there after an impressive debut season in the top flight, despite being favourites to go down, and also took Liverpool as close to a league title as they have been for over 20 years. On paper, he would be our biggest appointment ever I feel.

Aye, it makes you think Ronny was a bit of a calculated risk and a stop gap. Made total sense, and could of turned out so different.

Had Ronny grown as a manager and grown the club over the couple of hun free years, his rolling contract would of just rolled and rolled.

It wasn't to be, his contract was off the table with no expense and after two relatively cheap years - The funds are there for an experienced manager.

Debating whether the huns affected our (manager/player) recruitment is fruitless, but I don't think we could of attracted a decent name two years ago, it seems we may be able to now..

Brendan Rodgers set to become highest paid manager in Celtic's history as Bhoys push the boat out in boss hunt

Although Celtic cannot match his £100,000-a-week gardening leave jackpot from Anfield, it’s understood Desmond is ready to push the boat out to tempt Rodgers back into the dugout.

And an offer was tabled yesterday which, if accepted, would even dwarf the deal Desmond sanctioned when Martin O’Neill was taking home more than £1m a year during his time in charge.

    Managerial overview

An impressive first season as a manager in the Barclays Premier League with newly promoted Swansea City in 2011/12 earned Brendan Rodgers the opportunity to take charge of Liverpool ahead of the 2012/13 campaign.
Rodgers guided the club to seventh, but made a bigger impact the following season when he led Liverpool to second place. The Anfield club beat eventual champions Manchester City towards the end of the season to take pole position, but defeat to Chelsea soon after gave the Manchester club a second Barclays Premier League title.
The Northern Irishman was unable to replicate the success of the previous season as Liverpool finished in sixth place. A mixed set of results at the start of the 2015/16 campaign led to Rodgers departing the Reds on Sunday 4 October.
