    The demise of Scottish football.

To think Dundee got to the semis of the Big Cup in 1963!!!

    I'm not picky.
I think the top thing I hate about modern football is definitely the play-acting by players. A good recent example of this (even though there are tons to pick from every week) was the way Oshaniwa acted after being nudged on the back of the head by the shin of Kazim-Richards. It was one of the most pathetic reactions I've seen for a wee while over a mere brushing of his head. Tie this in with all the diving that gets done then it's definitely the worst part I think. The way players seem to just fall to the ground SO easily, even with the mere touch from an opposition player. I've heard it being called "clever play" but it's not clever...it's * cheating to try and gain an advantage. We never see fair shoulder charges anymore because it's guaranteed one player will always fall over instead of trying to contest for the ball.

Money. Everything is about football now is money. The wages players can earn is beyond a joke. £300k+ a week?! AND that is probably before any bonuses that they can get as well. I know the job isn't like a "regular" job where a person can be in it for like 30 years or so, but still, it's ridiculous on how high the wages are getting. The money TV companies throw at F.A.'s now for TV rights is ludicrous (the TV deal with Sky for the EPL is over a £1billion I think) and this in turn affects the kick-off times because it's down to the TV schedule for that TV company on when certain matches get played.

Agents. Practically nothing is done without an agent now, and this ties in with the money aspect because we know how greedy agents can be. What happened to players dealing with their own business in football? All this agent bullshit is just that...bullshit.

Executive Chairmen. Why the * do they have to have a say on who comes in and who leaves a club? As long as the manager doesn't go nuts with spending, then really it should be down to scouts and the manager on who comes in to a club. The way it used to be. Modern football has went the way of American sports in this respect and it's pish. Ice hockey, baseball, NFL, etc it's the General Manager who deals with signings and departures...not the Head Coach and personally I don't think that's right. The money men should stay behind-the-scenes and deal with the money aspects and running the Club and the manager should be the one to deal with the team, including any transfers.

    Referees.

Certain decisions by governing football authorities. For example, a player having to leave the field of play AFTER being treated for an "injury" just to be waved back on by the referee. Referees now having to book players who take their shirts off in celebration or for "over-celebrating" with the fans. Who the * comes up with that *?!

Despite all that I do still enjoy football but it's definitely not what it used to be that's for sure.

    Big money foreign ownership.

Seeing the celebrations in Thailand for Leicester's title win was cringeworthy.

Sanitised football. Game has been taken over by the middle class and corporations especially in the UK. Going to games you have to always be on edge or you could get arrested or fined etc, smoking in the wrong area, singing the wrong song, getting into a confrontation or drinking a beer on the street. Alot of woman and children also go regularly now , not a bad thing but has taken alot of the edge out of atmospheres at some grounds.

Alot of good has also came from modern football as well, referees protect players from getting chopped at every opportunity, if you are not a hardman type player then that is beneficial and allows the fans to see more skillful play, Pace is alot faster and the fitness is bettter nowadays. Also teams like barca have shown that you do not have to be a 6 foot odd giant to be a great player, takes away the focus on physicality.

    Where to start?

Money: Football has turned into a monster we can't control anymore. Too much money around these days... even bench players get paid a fortune, players act like rock stars and actors (especially on the pitch). New shirts every season, ticket prices get out of hands, real football fans can't afford them any longer and stadiums get filled with sponsors and tourists.
Plus the more money around the more crimes happen. Bribery, money laundering and so on..

Players: No hard * in the game anymore. Football is supposed to be a man's game. Nowadays when a players get touched they act if they were hit by a train.

    Fans: Can't swear, can't shout, can't stand. * * man, don't even get a decent beer anymore.

coaches: negative football, destructive strategies and tactics. had to bear as a neutral.

Eventually football has sold it's soul due to money.

I agree with everything in here, but I'd go further: if it wasn't for Celtic, I'd be entirely disinterested in club football. Until Leicester, who actually caused me to watch some English football, it seemed to be a simple business proposition - you spend the most money and you win. And that applies to us as well.

Commercialisation has gone too far, with the CL being a bore fest carved between the same teams year on year.

Yeah, I'm finding myself zoning out of any club games that don't involve Celtic or Liverpool these days.

Champions League especially is boring as * now.

£37 is the discounted price for the Celtic v Barcelona friendly. Ridiculous.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who now finds the Champions League tawdry. It really * me off when one of our games gets postponed, or you can't get a stream of it, because Barcelona are playing Arsenal for the 25th time in the last ten years. Yawn.

I could go on and on for ages but off the top of my head ; not being able to just turn up at the stadium and pay to get in . Like the old days . Disposable income being used up for an event weeks in advance ( to buy tickets ) is a turn off for us low paid types .

Sky Sports money distorting football in the UK (and Europe).

Foreign owners massaging egos by buying EPL clubs.

    Customers not fans.

Champions League becoming a closed shop.

    Ticket prices.
