The captaincy

Place must be full of 14 year olds, wanting to give the captains armband to a 17-18 year old boy, any way I think brown shouldn't be near the first team never mind captain, am hoping to see big changes next season in terms of player recruitment and a hope the new manager comes in with his own ideas and hopefully signs someone worthy of the armband.

Scott Brown all day. I expect him to have a cracking season next year with a new manager in place.

 

The last thing Tierney needs is the pressure or responsibility of captaincy.

Let him get on with what he is doing and let him develop then in 5+ years down the line maybe.

Sviatchencko looks to have the attributes of what you look for in a captain.

 

Brown as captain with Erik as vice, Erik will definitely be captain soon but hasn't been at the club that long yet. You need someone with the respect of the whole dressing room to be the captain which takes time, Lustig would be a great captain as well but unfortunately has been awful this season.

 

Being captain is not about being the best player on the park. Nor in the respect just because you've lost some form should you be stripped of it.
Its be harsh on brown to do that for that reason.

However, the captain should always be looking to rally the squad and drive them forward. Even if the team is off form or the manager is loosing the squad/form, the players need to look to their captain to get them through games.
For me brown has actually been one of the biggest problems to our form this season and not doing the captain's role anywhere near to the standard expected or the standards he set himself. For that he should be dropped of the armband as soon as the season is finished.

In fact deila should have done it months ago.

As for who to replace him, as it stands think I need to agree with the majority, sviatchenko. He is a good age and captained his last team. He leads by example and encourages the team on and off the park. He demands more of himself and the team for the sole sake of the fans. Captain for me. Tierney for his passion and heart deserves to be the vice captain.

Guys like mulgrew and Johansen would normally be suggested as well, but both for various reasons have also followed this season's traits from brown and do not deserve the armband as it stands.

No room for players who are willing to give up and not play with all their heart and sole, for the fans and club regardless of what is going on with managers, board room or in-house tiffs.

I don't really care who the captain is, I just want some * leaders on the park.

 

brown has done a lot for this club, and lately is doing a lot off it, so i see no reason why he should lose it IF playing to form, but lately he should not be in the team never mind captain, just cant see brown being at the club and not being captain.

I think we need to find out really what is going on with Brown and why his form has been so bad since he returned from injury. If it is simply he was rushed back and has never been allowed to recover fully so he can be playing at the level he was say last season then I would keep Brown as captain and make Sviatchenko vice captain. Personally I am guessing that is the most likely scenario in terms of Brown's form.

 

this is the point i was trying to make too, everybody needs to calm down and lets see were things go next year.

 

A lot of us are in the depression mode over us just now. That includes some of our (mine personally) best player's..

I'm guilty of it right now, but if he's back on song next year, he'll deffo be captain..

 

the players could be feeling the same, and the players can put things right.

 

Brown is the captain for as long as he's at the club!

When not playing Mulgrew, Lustig, Commons and Sviatchenko in that order..

Love Sviatchenko and he looks to be a leader but he's not even been here half a season..

 

If Brown is at the club he will be the captain. He is very popular in the dressing room and and a big character, stripping him of it could cause problems in the dressing room.

I wouldn't be surprised if Brown is still in pain while playing having been put straight back into the team from injury, and is suffering because of it.
