McGrain is still better than him even now.

The Alec McNair story is one I was unaware of , it is an inspiration . As so many stories associated with Celtic over the years .
For me it's an easy decision , Danny was World Class at his best . Also remember that he suffered a skull fracture , a broken leg and had to deal with being a diabetic . A great player and servant to the club . No contest really !

Fantastic footballer for both Celtic and Scotland even when playing left back for Scotland. Tierney is the closest we have had to a McGrain type of full back since Danny hung up the boots. That's not saying Tierney will ever be world class be he loves a tackle as did Mr Danny McGrain, a Celtic *.

I remember thinking he was the dogs bollocks when we first signed him, shame what happened. He was only young when we signed him too, definitely think we could have done more with him.

Easily the legand that is Danny McGrain. A class act on and off the field.

Best Left Back would've been a more interesting debate imo

    Kieran Tierney
    Charlie Mulgrew
    Emilio Izzaguirre
    Lee Naylor
    Mark Wilson (really a right-back)
    Mo Camara 2005-06
Ross Wallace 2002-06 (started as left midfielder)
Ulrik Laursen 2002-05 (also played centre half)
Momo Sylla 2001-05 (he played everywhere, including here)
    Joos Valgaeren 2000-05 (on occasion)
Steve Guppy 2001-04 (on occasion, really a left midfielder)
    Stephen Crainey 1999-2004 (full-back)
    Michael Gray 2003
    Tom Boyd 1992-2003
    Stephane Mahe 1997-2001
Tosh McKinlay 1994-99 (originally played at full-back)
Dariusz Wdowczyk 1989-94 (really a central defender)
    Paul McLaughlin 1989-91 (a full-back, made only 5 appearances)
    Anton Rogan 1986-91 (really a full-back)
    Danny McGrain 1967-87 (really a right-back)
    Mark Reid 1977-85
    Alan Sneddon 1977-81
    Graeme Sinclair 1982-85
    Brian Whitaker 1983-84
Andy Lynch 1973-80 - captain for two years while McGrain was injured
Jim Brogan 1963-75 (often played as sweeper)
Tommy Gemmell 1961-71 (also played right-back)
    Jim Kennedy 1955-65
    Frank Meechan 1952-59

Best I’ve ever seen his Didier Agathe, masterstroke twice by O’Neill – firstly putting him right in a five man midfield and then converting him to a right-back post-Seville where he excelled. 1995/96 Jackie McNamara right back with Simon Donnelly in front of him was superb at times. Always too have a soft spot for Chris Morris for his excellent Centenary season.

Best I've seen is probably Agathe.

Best we've ever had is undoubtedly Daniel Fergus McGrain.

Danny no question was the best by the length of the Gallowgate closely followed by Agathe in my lifetime.
