We are miles away from the CL and if we get there next season I fear us going back to the 90s and getting horsed by 4 goals most games....we could do with a season or 2 in the EU to build some runs and maybe some confidence in the team.
despite not winning a game I thought we played well in plenty of games until calamity jane showed up.
If we are to have any hope of doing better in EU, with or without ronny we have to cut out the errors.....that is the managers biggest task.

We will never be consistent in Europe unless we spend big money. The players that come in and do well in Europe get sold on, meaning more players need developed and need experience to get used to the level. We'll go through the stages of doing well in CL, then *, then not qualifying for CL and getting in EL etc.

The difference with Scandinavian teams for example we have come up against, they are teams that have a lot of experience and have been built over years, they will also be half way through their season by the time the qualifiers come round.

Did anyone have faith in Lenny taking us into the CL the season we got to the last 16? The season before we only just got in the EL then struggled, he learned quick and obviously got the team ready in time, I think Ronny can as well it's just a case of getting a few players in with that extra quality.

That is my biggest gripe by a mile...the * sflpslpfsflp not moving the start of our season....it could help all teams in EU....and could make such a difference for team like ths sheep ect.

Im not taking anything away from lenny but he got lucky, in that he found a few players and got them signed and we was lucky enough to have 3-4 at the same time.....but I think things have caught up with us now and no sooner have we found someone than someone is leaving....imo now we have even less to spend we will always be trying to replace someone and never manage to get 3,4,5 players in the team at the same time to make that difference.

only thing that might improve matters is them * coming up next season.

It makes no sense to blame individual errors only on conceded goals and thus claim that poor individual performances are why we've lost/drawn games we should have won. If you're going to do that, then you also need to blame our opponent's individual errors on the goals we score, which makes this whole exercise nonsensical. As Gabriel said, most goals are caused by errors.

Just look at the 3-2 Malmo result if you need an example. On Griffith's first goal, Malmo's central defenders completely lose him as he makes his run, allowing him the easiest of goals. On Bitton's header, he waltzes in on the corner kick with two Malmo players just standing around him and neither do anything at all to mark him - another easy goal. And Griffith's second goal is a result of a poor headed clearance by one of Malmo's defenders. Should you then say we didn't deserve that victory because Malmo's defending was so poor on all three of our goals? Of course not - reasonable people understand that's just football.

It's obvious that some of our defenders make a lot of really bad individual errors and/or don't play well at all under pressure. But our poor European campaign and our poor season are a result of much bigger problems than just individual errors.

The Europa campaign was terrible, we played like we didn't want to be there. ( Which to be fair we didn't).
Everything was okay up untill the Malmo's second goal at Parkhead. If we'd won that 3-1, I maintain we'd have got champions league football and Ronnie's position would look very secure right now

Brown was the biggest culprit for the first goal we conceded against Malmo at home.

For the money we need CL football. But if I'm being honest, I prefer to see us in the Europa League for a few years.(as someone said) We need to build this young side up and gain experience. The Europa League gives us more variety in opposition and is better suited to our needs. I know the money is minuscule compared to CL but I prefer it as a tournament.

Performance wise I don't think we got dominated and we played quite well and dominated most games we just got exposed too much at the back, we scored 8 goals and conceded 12 if we had a solid defence we would have probably cruised it through.

The European campaign was brutal , we went out of the C.L. with a whimper ,the teams we came up against in the E.L. were pish and we couldn't manage a single win.nowhere near good enough coming last in that group should have seen and end to ronny ,the fact he is still here is infuriating he has proved that he cannot set up a team or motivate players to overcome poor teams who have a couple of decent players.I can't understand how anyone would want us to be playing Europa league football surely if we want younger players acclimatized to European football they should get used to playing against the best

Attacking wise it was fine, we created a lot of chances over the piece, at times very poor finishing when another goal and we would have been out of sight.

Malmo springs to mind as we were all over them and should have finished the game by at least 2/3 clear goals.

Defensive lapses cost us big time. Cut out the mistakes, keep ourselves a little bit more rigid and we can easily compete at the EL level and get into the CL although competing for a knockout spot in the CL is currently beyond us.

What would any manager who knows what's he's doing do differently? what do you want me to explain to you? Win a game or two against teams who are slightly better than the rest of the teams we play in scotland would do for a start.Christ if his team got hammered maybe watch the game again to see where it went wrong for the return leg .try something different when the infallible 4231 leaves you at the bottom of a pish group in the Europa league
what manager ?!? Why don't you ditch this scarcity mentality I would say there are hundreds of managers who could do a better job. however the * ronny found himself in charge of celtic is beyond me .I have never claimed to know it all but I know this, ronny will never get us into the champions league
