Paul Whitehouse is possibly the best character actor I've ever seen. He was fantastic in Nurse and Help. I honestly cant think of any Hollywood actor that could come close to matching Paul Whitehouse's range.

I think Al Pacino is a great example of an overrated actor. Yeah he's been in many great films but he's pretty much the same guy in everything: small angry gangster man.

It never ceases to amaze you? It is your sole purpose on this Forum to annoy people to the point they'll reply to you :56:

Don't be hurt because a few people like to call you out on it.

Dog Day, Serpico, Cruising, Scent of a woman, Carlito's way, Donnie Brasco, are you seriously saying Pacino is overrated ? :97:

You do know a forum wouldnt function without people creating things to talk about?

Ive got no problem whatsoever about people giving their opinion on anything ive said, or threads ive made, i have a major problem with people being bitchy and bringing stuff about religion because it suits their agenda.
Its the pub section and if someone starts a contentious thread, then what is the problem?
Obviously when you make a thread and a statement about it, people will either agree, or disagree, and you know that in advance, but i dont really need to make things up to 'annoy' people.

If my very presence annoys you or others, i wish you would put me on ignore, as it is getting a bit tiresome having to argue with the same people who make bitchy personal comments to me, regardless of the theme of the thread. One minute i give you guys credit for being semi intelligent and reasonable human beings, the next its back to square one when you start all this bitchy stuff.....and it is very bitchy.
Give it a rest.Be civilised, or if you cant, try ignoring!

:50: Any Given Sunday, Heat... The list goes on and on. He's a very diverse actor.

It's difficult being civilised when you are, as I am apparently, semi intelligent :56:

Who are 'you guys' anyway? Are you not a Celtic fan like the rest of us? You seem to talk about yourself like a lone wolf on here, there is no 'us and them'.

Honestly, i loved most of those films, but i also believe they could have been just as good with an unknown but talented actor.(although i thought Heat was contrived.:fear:)

You may laugh, as it seems absurd, but many current film stars have had parts in soaps or TV shows.

Sir Ian McKellan even asked to be in Corrie!

Can i ask do you watch soaps, its just that some of the worst acting i have ever seen is in these but is overlooked because people are to * dumb to notice, not a dig at you but at the majority of these programmes audiences

No i dont anymore, but i have in the past.:smiley-laughing002:

Yes i agree, some of it is terrible, but there are some gems in there.

I actually used to watch Corrie growing up, and no one can tell me Jean Alexander as Hilda Ogden wasnt superb.
Others too, but yes, loads of dross in there!

Should give Bryan Cranstons interview with Howard Stern a listen, it's on YouTube.

He basically says every successful actor needs luck, and that he witnesses lots of very good actors in acting classes etc that never made it anywhere. Kind of backs up what you are saying but I still think that people like De Niro and Pacino are a cut above everyone else.
